Hi Everyone! I have a question about Pickles. She has been licking and biting herself a lot. Im sooo worried thats its bugs or something, because a few of the nice days, i took her around the yard on her leash. Plus she has been itching a lot. Im paranoid anyways with her because shes my little baby. I checked some of her and didnt see nothing crawling
thank god. And with licking herself, shes been coughing and that makes me so sad and I feel helpless when she does that
I do give her hairball remedy every morning. Its like a flavored vaseline type of cat stuff for hairballs. She hacked up one last night, but i just feel so bad when she coughs like that, and she has been doing it a lot lately. Does anyone's else long haired cats do that. Also, shedding...do they shed ALOT before winter or something. She wont let me brush her....but i thought it was called "Shedding the winter coat" not Shedding for winter...LOL Unless she is getting furrier for winter. I dont know. Please help and comfort me. She's my little baby
Thank you very much for your time, its GREATLY appreciated!

She could be allergic to something. Does the licking and biting seem obsessive? For instance, does she stop in the middle of some other activity to wash like she's the World's Dirtiest Cat? Does she always go for the same place? Is it hard to distract her once she gets going?

Yes!!!!! She does seem like she ALWAYS has to be clean. There's sometimes, if you pet her, she will lick that spot then. LOL Its so wierd. If shes walking down the hall or something, she will just plop down and lick....either her side, belly, or feet. Its quite interesting

Yeah, you might want to have her checked out for allergies. And sooner rather than later, before she licks off all her fur...

Is your heat on? Is there any dry skin areas, flakey, or small thin fur spots? I have had a couple kitties that had reactions to dry air, a humidifier cured it right up......... Sweety was long hair and the same way with the maticulous cleaning! Loved her for it, I use to watch her clean herself and then just tip of my finger touch where she just cleaned, she would completely do it again, and she would give you this look.... "I just cleaned that!"........When they shed there is more cleaning and furballs, twice a year! The cleaner kitties just need a dab of furball sav hre and there, it helps!

Thanks for the tips...yes just like you said, when she is cleaning her self...then you take your finger and touch that spot and she does give me that look " What are you doing, i just spent time cleaning there" LOL its sooo cute. Maybe dry air though like you said. Thanks a lot for the tip!!!! I do use the furball sav though because i hate to see her cough like that.
