We adopted a little orange tabby about a year and a month ago because my sister's cat is very, very social and mine is not. Frankie was an ideal companion to my sister's cat because he was playful, sweet, and energetic. Suddenly, however, he has become distant and apathetic. He is social in small bursts - like when I come home from school, but once I have fed him, he tends to hide under the table and not come out, unless we let him outside. He spends a lot of time outside, sometimes staying out all night.

He's not purring much at all, even when we pet him. He had an eye infection recently, and I'm worried that he may have worms. Could an infection be the reason for his listlessness?

Sharp changes in behavior (especially after exposure to all the hazards of the outdoors) usually warrants a vet visit. Is he still eating/drinking/pooping/sleeping the same?

He's eating and sleeping a lot more. I think it might be worms. When my cat gets them, she does the whole sitting-underneath-a-chair-and-ignoring-the-world thing like Frankie's doing. Could it be worms?

You should really take him to a vet. Only they can diagnose worms and provide treatment. Good luck!

Any sudden and drastic changes in behavior, eating, or litterbox behavior are signs that your cat is telling you something. Take him to the vet to be checked out.
