So we're on week 2 of Cody's Diet.

Cody is 23-25 lbs and just getting bigger. She's been prone to UTI's in the past and has been having some behavioral problems lately (peeing all over) so I thought it's time for a change as I think her weight is contributing to both issues. She also eats when she gets nervous, which is a lot.

So no more free feeding. They get dry in the morning and at night. This caused much ruckus the first week, waking us up in the middle of the night, chasing each other, crying. But it's gotten much better this week. They know when breakfast and dinner time is and they've learned not to inhale it too fast.

Cody has also been having supervised outside outings...chasing leaves and such. She loves it.

So some questions: How much do you feed your cats? I introduced them to wet can food. Boo will eat it (he's normal size 1 year old) but Cody (5 year old female) just snubs her nose at it. I tried several different kinds.

Anyone have any suggestions? What kind of wet food is best?

Thanks guys!
Susan

I have two cats who are not in love with wet food either. I tried every brand at a mom and pop pet store with a really good variety. They would eat a little tiny bit of Wellness Chicken or Turkey. They love the Meow Mix Market Selects wet, especially the salmon and crab. The big drawback is that it is fish heavy which means it isn't the best out there. Many of them have no by-products and are much better quality than the Meow Mix dry.

The best wet for a cat with uti issues is likely the one with .085% magnesium , under.9 phosphorus

One canned food that has a different texture that cats like is Merrick. It's "soupy" for lack of a better description. I have on kitty that like chunks in gravy, so the Nutro pouches go over well with her. You might also want to try different textures....I know some are the thick pate style, some a thinner pate style, some chunks, some cubes, some shredded, some soupy.....

Solid Gold Blended Tuna has kitty tuna in it. I know mine go crazy for it. Might not be a good staple in Cody's diet as it's probably high in mag, etc., but if it gets her eating canned food....

My Humble will not eat wet food; Shenandoah likes the wet.
I am sending food prayers for you. I know this is as hard on you as it is on COdy.

The best kind is the kind they will eat.
I recently switched to Trader Joe's brand canned food, and my girl who prefers dry will even eat some. They have 3 flavors, not including the tuna cat food.

Pixel doesn't eat wet, either. Java used to, but doesn't anymore - don't know why. there's a website that gives a method to turn dry food lovers into wet food eaters. i've seen it, but have now looked everywhere & can't find it.

Ox loves wet food so he gets about up to 1/4 cup!!! The others get it more like a treat about a tablespoon. They have never been fussy over it. If there is any left in the dish ox will finish it off!!

Thanks guys! I caught Cody up on the counter last night sneaking little Boo's food...AFTER she already ate her dinner.
And she also finagaled her way into the living room this morning and couldn't get back out of the baby gate...I am praying she didn't pee in there again. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to the pet store this weekend to check out some different kinds of wet foods...maybe something in those pouches would work for her...will keep her more satisfied/less hungry all the time.
