I thought Gizmo would be growing her winter coat around about now... instead, she's shedding almost as amazingly as she does in summer! There were clumps of hair all over the hall this morning and I just relieved Gizzy of a little coaster of felted hair...she won't let me brush her belly, but her back and sides were brushable...the hair was actually sticking to the wall by the static electricity (I can only brush Gizzy when she is in the top cup of her kitty palace.)

The apartment has had the heat turned on and the windows closed, but I keep the heat very low. Why is my girl shedding so much? Is this normal?

Do u use a humidifier?? I dont know how dry your area is but if the dewpt is under 20 and the humidity is under 30 a humidifier will help a great deal... I know Gizmo has allergies but is she on any oil supplements>>>???

And no she is not on any oil supplements.

She won't take them if I try to give them to her. Her food has a high oil content and her coat is very shiny and silky. She's just shedding like there's no tomorrow, that's all.

She's shedding less now. I guess I just have to keep brushing her twice a week, the way I've been doing. She almost enjoys it.

Gizmo will let me brush her if she is in the top 'cup' of her kitty palace. That makes her as tall as me, and I guess that makes the brushing standable for her.

Her coat is even glossier and softer than formerly, if that was possible--she is a real delight to pet and cuddle. SO I know that the diet (very high in omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids) is doing her good; but I was really amazed at the quantity of fur that came off her when she was supposed to be growing a winter coat.

I guess the strange weather and the warm apartment 'confused her'. At least I can brush her a bit...she also had a hairball two days ago, so I've got to keep doing it.

Can't send her anywhere, Sharky. She's taken.
