What an experience this has been. I came home at lunch time to check on Snowy and she had JUST had them. Pics are in 'furry pics only'. Her babies are adorable.

I need advice though. Snowy has had no rest since the birth, her babies have been suckling on her for hours and i'm having trouble seperating them.
She has not been to her litter tray since or eaten, she has had plenty of fluids though.

The other thing is Snowy is no longer a white cat she is pink, i'm sure you can guess why, Although she is washing where she can reach she isn't by far clean. Should i wash her.
She is doing great by the way, feeding and been really gentle with her babies.
She frets when you seperate her from the kittens.
Any advice would be great

Congrats on the new kittens!

Ummm, when Misty had her litter it appeared that she had not eaten or been to the litter box for quite some time after her kittens were born, but I think that the mama will know when she needs to go and the only time I separted Misty from her babies was to get an inital weight. I just trusted that Misty knew what she was doing.

I could be wrong so hopefully someone else will come along soon with more information for you!

goodluck !

Yes, she is pinkish, isn't she? I think in a day or two she will get back to her white self. Right now she has 3 fuzzy butts to clean up after.

Why do you feel the need to separate them? Snowy probably ate the placentas, which would make her feel quite full and not at all hungry. She will visit her litter (put it close by but not so close as to make her move the kittens) when she feels the need to, so try to put it in a place where she doesn't have to move far away from her babies. She will want to watch them while she is using her litter.

She will continue to wash herself as time passes and remove whatever last little remnants of blood remain. Don't use anything to clean her at all and absolutely ~do not~ bathe her. The kittens know her only by scent at the moment and she needs to smell familiar to them or they may stop nursing.
