Thank you! he is staying there for an hour so they can do blood work and maybe an xray. Humble (and his brother Shenandoah) have bladder stones, and the vet says that might have changed. He says it could be just the change in seasons, and maybe Humble just is not as hungry.

Hie temp is find, everything looks normal.

I am going back at 10:30 or so to get him.

ALL prayers are appreciated.

He is my baby, and I am scared. My 2 cats are my only family!

His bladder stone is growing. The blood work indicated a kidney enzyme level up. He has to be on this: benazepril HCK for the rest of his life, probably.
He is also being put on Eukanuba Multi-Stage renal food.

The surgery is scheduled for Friday morning. It is called a cystotomy.

I am taking him in on Thursday afternoon to spend the night, and they will do the surgery on Friday morning. He has to spend the night again Friday, and I can get him on Saturday.

The vet says it is a routine surgery that is done all the time.

I am scared! Please pray!

Poor Humble. Bijou and Mika will be upset to hear that one of their favourite southern gentlemen is not well.

We'll all be praying and rooting for Humble and sending kitty headbutts to Shenandoah too. Hugs for Meowmy Bobbi.

oh, thank you. The surgery is at 8 a.m. on friday.

I talked to a vet. his wife teaches with me. he says it is all for the best, as if the bladder stone remains, humble will only get sicker. he also says that most surgery problems come from pet owner's only wanting the minimum blood work done.

I am just upset. I think it is best that I go on to work on Friday as I will only makemyself sick worrying.

Bobbie,

It should be ok. That was the surgery Lucy had a little over a month ago. And the only problem we had is that she may have had a reaction to the sutures. Now after the shunt, a new set of sutures, and a course of antibiotics, she is back to being her ornery self.

We will keep the both of you in our hearts on Friday.

Oh, wow, thank you so much! I may be needing to PM you some. Did the sutures come out by themselves? Or did you have to take her to have them removed?

Should I separate Humble and Shenandoah after the surgery?

We didn't need to have them removed so I think we had the absorbable type. Lucy did spend the night at the vet after the surgery. When she came home the first time, I put her into a room by herself just for a couple of hours and then she wanted out. The others just left her alone.

You may just want to see how Shanandoah behaves when you bring Humble home.

When she had to have the e-collar, I did keep her separated just because I didn't want her running into all sorts of things with it on. Also, she didn't leave the stupid collar on so I ended up spending a couple of days watching her.

I'll be here for any support you need.

Here is the thread with Lucy modeling her e-collar (Meowmy's a sadist). The vet wanted her to wear one so that she didn't lick at the stitches.

Here is the thread explaining why we had to go back to the vet after her surgery. Lucy's going to the vet

I think Humble will be ok since you are observant and will keep a good eye on his stitches.

Thank you, I cannot see my having to take 3-4 days off to make sure he doesn't mess with the stitches. I HAVE heard of an e collar before. Your poor angel.

I hope Humble's stitcjes don't get infected, either.

HUMBLE is fine! They called. They just have to make sure he cn use the restroom, etc. before they let him come home. I am calling again this afternoon to hear any news, and I will hopefully be able to go get him in the morning.
PLEASE pray that he can pee and poop.
