New here with a new kitten

I've had cats before but I've never had a cat that makes the noise my new kitten makes.

When we are playing she starts making this sound where she opens her mouth and it almost sounds like a "bahahaha" like a lamb or something. Anybody know what it's called? Her little mouth like pulses open and closed.

Any ideas?

I've read the tips for introducing cats to dogs, but does anyone else have any personal tips? Thanks!!

welcome to the boards. I look after a dog during the day while the owner is at work, and I did it slowly over a few days, and never without my watchful eye over them. I would say that you just give them both bits of time together, and go from there. Now the cat and dog can interact together, but really do not have much to do with each other. Look in the other areas for good helpful tips.

Bet it sounds funny when your kitty makes that noise my cats make that sort of noise when they are bird-watching, so maybe its like a hunting type noise ? ? But as you know kitties make all sorts of weird and wonderful noises.

I did have a dog many years ago, the main thing, as mentioned by Kittydad, is just to take time and introduce them to each other under a watchful eye Feeding time can be a bit hectic and tempers can fly, so thats another area to be careful about. I used to take my dog into our out-house to feed him, out of the sight of my kitties. When he had done, my hubby took him for a walk, so thats when I fed the kitts !

Oh and of course, lots of TLC for everyone !!

Anyway enjoy the forums and once you get settled in maybe you could post some photos

I've got her in the guest bedroom...I couldnt stand leaving her in a small bathroom. I've also got her food and litter up higher so that our dog can't eventually get to it after the introduction process is over. She's doing good. She's been around dogs (we got her from a boarder and they had dogs there all the time)...I think she is going to be fine. It's our dog we are going to have to be careful of. Although when we go for walks if we pass a cat he doesn't even flinch UNLESS the cat comes and gets in his face.

I'm taking it very slow. I had Cammy (my kittly) sleep with a towel last night and got her scent all over it and then gave it to the dog in his room when I left this morning so that can smell it and get his scent on it and then I'll give it back to her.

She is so affectionate and so full of energy...I just love her to death!! I'll post a pic as soon as I upload one. Here is a picture of Jake though:
