Perhaps you may want to consider finding a dark, quiet place, perhaps a box with some blankets in them, in a quiet room, so that the kitty can have her babies is a soothing place. Mommy kitties like dark places to have their babies because they feel safe. Do you have any large boxes and some soft towels or small blankets?

Ok, that's where she has chosen to have her babies. Can you put the box in the closet? or if the box won't fit, would you put down a soft layer of towels and blankets for her?

Ok, that sounds like you have everything covered. You certainly have thought of covering all the bases. You also know that mommy kitties are on alert all the time, especially when they are about to give birth. I know that your little child is so eager to see the babies, but can you explain that mommy kitty REALLY needs to be left along when she starts labor and that they can see the kitties later?

Ahhhhh, you are such a good caretaker. Now all we need to do is wait and when mommy cat is ready, then she will have her kits.

She will probably be very up and down, because she is probably uncomfortable. If she will let you, just pet her and tell her that it is ok and that you are there to help.

Kitten food is good, it is recommened that the queens eat kitten food before they give birth, it helps in the development of the kits. Boy, you have done very well. Good for you!!!

It's good that you want to be with your girl and make her feel safe.

You have picked the very best site in world for cat questions on just about anything.

If you run into more questions, just post and either myself or someone else will be happy to help you through whatever it is that you are going through.

By the way, excuse me for being so rude, Welcome to TheCatSite.

Well, don't be alarmed if a few are runny. If there is a whole lot runny, then I would call a vet and get some information as to what to do.

She should be OK, just keep an eye on her, pet her and tell her that you love and that she is safe.

just a thought for the food (someone jump in and tell me if this will work), could you put her food bowl and a water bowl close to her box in the closet and maybe try to hide it from the other cat? If the other cat has it's own food/water bowls elsewhere you're less likely to have a fight because of it, and then it will be easier for Mom to eat when she's caring for the babies (and eventually show the babies how to eat the food).
