This is a question to any breeder or other fosters - -
Do you give the kittens their first set of shots at 8 weeks or do you take them into the vet.
You see taking each into the vet just for the vaccinations is getting rather expensive so I thought I could give them thier first shots at home if the kittens are not showing any sigh of sickness.
If you do give the first shots, what do you use?

Any input would be appreciated.

As a breeder, all my cats/kittens get their shots done by a vet. Depending on whether they are show cats or not, the minimum vaccination each kitten gets is the basic 3 in 1.

Deworming however, is done by me!

I do know of some breeders giving their own shots but I personally wouldn't for fear of the rare allergic reaction to the shots!

I give my babies their shots at home. The only reaction I have seen is the one cat slept for about a day. Fortunately, there have been no bad reactions and no problems. I get my vaccines from UPCO.com.
