Preferably metal as I can see him chewing through a plastic one.

That is most likely what would happen. My dear Scratch is a bit nervous.

Poor Scratch, he probably lives in a constant state of fear with never knowing what kind of trouble 8-Bit will get them into next....

Yyyyyyyyyyup! The bonus is that it's easier to scoop out of a container with a wide opening at the top (and a lid that can be snapped closed and weighted down
) than to pour out of a bag of any size! 'Course every time you dump a new bag into the container, you'll have cats circling around like so many sharks in the water
, but that's the lesser of the two evils!

i used to keep mine in a plastic flip-top trash can, like this one. i finally broke down & bought a screw-top food container from petco. i got the 25 pound one. it was pricey, but keeps the food fresh really well - plus the cats can't open it & it's really hard plastic - no chewing thru this one!

I have a flip-top plastic container from Petsmart. Prego will also chew through bags. Can they smell through the bag or do they just know what their food bag looks like?

I was telling my hubby about the latest with 8-bit and he told me that Much when she was a lot younger, just shredded the side of a large bag. so the entire bag spilled out. We have kept the bags in closets ever since.

We have many bags of evo like that and this morning I woke up to the sound of Boomer playing with something, confused knowing I put his toys away last night, I get up to find that he has decided he didn't like the idea of his SS getting new kitty toys and had broken a few out of the packages

Well, I came home yesterday to find Pushy licking his lips and looking very pleased with himself. He'd just chewed through the new bag of c/d, but had ignored his brother's bag of Medical high fibre kibble. Guess it's like going for the Frosted Flakes instead of the All Bran!

Um, these new bags were in the closet! My boys learned early how to open the closets.
I didn't have room in their metal food tins yet, so I just left them in the closet. Sigh, nothing is safe!

Milo and Zebra do that with every bag of food we get. Last weeks was the worst. I wanted to get a picture of it, but it got thrown out before I got a chance to. They had holes in both sides, the front and the back of the bag. When I was trying to feed them, it was spilling everywhere. We keep our food in this:

But they know how to open it, so now it has a container of laundry soap sitting on top of it. That only works while the soap is heavy and full. Once its light enough that they can move it, they will get to the food again.
