This is the letter I left for the repair man:

This apartment is the humble home to two cats, one gray and one black. The gray one is going to dash out of the apartment and try to run down the hallway, to get him back inside stomp your feet. As you attempt to look at our heater the gray one will try to “helpâ€. If you find this annoying please usher him into the bedroom and shut the door tightly. If you donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t shut it tightly he will paw it open and you will have to do it again. The black one will drop toys around your work area in hopes that you will play. If you find this annoying please place him in the bedroom along with the gray one. When you are done please let them out.

I hate to jump on the ban wagon though its funny what if 8-bit were to snap at him? Cats can get aggressive and personally if he tried to bite me i would press charges and want all records on his shots. My brother got attacked by a "house" cat and he pressed charges the cat DID have his rabies shots so he had to be put to sleep for aggression.

He didn't try to bite the repair man. From what I can understand he felt backed into a corner and a stranger was trying to take away "his" food. I can understand where you are coming from though, but 8-Bit isn't in the least aggressive.

8-Bit is just too funny . .Maybe he should consider writing a book on being a cat.
I should send the repairman a case of tuna as a reward for making my morning

I just don't think it's very good that your cat would hiss/growl over his food to a person. Plus to be honest if you knew the guy was coming its your responsabilty to lock up your animals.

Have to put my 2 cents in.

I think he should take it as a compliment on his wife's sandwhich making ability!
If his wife didn't make him such a tasty sandwich, then 8-Bit wouldn't have been willed to indulge!

(gotta love a bad boy!!!

That's like posting a chore for your child in which he's not. Like i said he should not have to put away "your" pets to do "his" job.

And why should she have to lock her cats in a room all day because a repairman can not come at a time when she is home to do it.

My landlord KNOWS that Magnum will be sitting behind the door if she opens it and throws a treat through my letter box to get him out of the way as he has escaped on her before, that is her choice if she can not find someone to come when I am home.

I WILL NOT lock my cats in a room in THEIR home for the comfort of someone that is supposed to be doing me a service.

I feel I should also post this as well. I didn't ask to have this man come into my apatment. The complex put a note on my door saying he was coming. I tried to call and have him come on a different day, but they denied my request. This happens all the time where I live and it drives me crazy. I'd love to be home when they try to fix something, but I can't. This is just one thing on the long list of issues I've had with my apartment.

Heather I won't even let them come into my place when I'm not home. I have too many valubles, and am not going to risk someone coming in unsupervised. The other thing is, why can repair men only come during the day M-F during working hours? Hello. Most of the free world works too?! And my favorite is when they tell you from 8-2, "I'll be there between 8-2", buddy, I am paying you, I don't get to tell my boss I'll be there sometime between 8-9am (although that would be nice). Now I have to take a 1/2 day and be stuck at home till the repairman decides to show up.... soooo annoying!

and regardless, you should NOT have to lock them up all day....hopefully he will be smarter next time. One wouldn't go into a dog owners home smelling like a steak would they? Nope, I think not!

I agree 100% with you. I also don't want people coming into my home when I'm not there and if a landlord insists then it is their responsibility to make sure their repair people are bonded (for sure) and prepared for my pets if they enter MY apartment. Even renters have rights.

As the above poster states, I too am sick of delivery/repair people telling me they will be out to my home between 8 and 5 - great! If I told my boss I would be in sometime between 8 and 5 I doubt I'd have a job for very long.

And neither would I lock my cats in a room all day.

I agree, but I still think it'd be nice if lookingglass bought the guy lunch. After all, it pays to have these people on your side. He obviously doesn't understand cats, but maybe he didn't feel comfortable looking up your animals, even though you said it was ok. He probably just didn't think the cat would steal his sandwich.

I left a plate of butter cookies in the guys office today. He smiled at me and said that he'd love to come over and meet the boys when they aren't being tempted by tuna.
