Why...why...why?!!!

Well, I was just outside on my drive putting my new tax disc in my car when a car pulls up and parks directly in front of my drive!

Noticing, I stand there and say 'excuse me'.....nothing, no reaction what-so-ever!

I say again and both met turn and walk away!

If only I could have run after them, I'd have given them more than a piece of my mind - are they stupid or what?!!! Shame I didn't have my power tools at hand too!!

To make matters worse, practially the whole street (without drives) was empty!!

I certainly won't miss this when I move!!!!

The nerve of them! I say unpack a power drill and ventilate their car doors.

If only I could find the box I packed it in!

Are they blocking your car in Sarah? If so, go knock on their door and tell them you need to leave.. even if you really don't!
I had that happen to me this morning too! I was parked in by someone who thought (or didn't as the case may be) that my drive looked like a good place to park while she took her daughter into school! I left a rather rude message n her windscreen asking her to refrain from doing so in future as this is the 3rd time she has done this! Next time I'll ask her to phone my boss and explain why I am 30 minutes late for work!

Sarah i'm laughing here because it's always your drive that seems to attract these numpty's!

Stick a note on their windscreen!

Yeah, they are completely blocking my car in They don't even live on the street and I have no idea who they are or where they went!! Our street is notorious for being a commuter car park - but the Council will do very little to help us!

Oh I know! My drive is the one of three on the street (most people have secure rear parking) and everyone seems to gravitate towards mine!! Not only do the block me in, they actually obscure the corner of the road!

I am going to write them a letter and hope they don't do it again (will probably find the note on my drive! )

Gail, I have no idea!

You do have the local tow company on speed dial?
Well, if you need to leave shouldn't you be able to have it towed???

Too right - but the fools seem to consider it theft!

I have to go through the Police to get it removed! They will attempt to trace the owner and ask them to move, but it's a very long winded process!

As there are no road markings that 'legally state' that you can't park there, it is only classed as inconvenient!

I'd have called a tow truck & had it removed! That'll teach 'em!

It is!

I just hope that things are a lot better when we move as it's not directly on the commuter route and hopefully people will be more considerate!

How is that just "inconvenient"??? That should be illegal!

Since the police don't seem to care what happens in your driveway, couldn't you put up some signs of your own? "No parking, violators will be towed"? Of course, you're moving soon, so it may not be worth the trouble
post #18 of 28
I recall we also suggested "Do Not Block Drive - Violators will be Dismantled".

I know - my sentiments exactly! Apparently I can have the special lines painted, but you have to apply to the Council and wait for them to decide if it is deserved or not?

Sadly it's similar with the sign too - but for that I would also have to get permission from my LL as we're 'not permitted to display signs' I was looking into it one of the many other times I've been blocked in/out.

Yeah, Jan! I think you came up with some wonderfully worded signs last time!

I have an idea-why don't you block your driveway with your own car??? At least you could get able to get out!!

I think that's an excellent suggestion!!!!

Oh I am a big meanie. I wouldve gave them a piece of my mind from the moment I saw them looking at my drive.

But now that they are there i'd call the local tow company and get the car out of there! If not grab the largest rock you can find and bam! Im sure that will get them running! j/k!
I would write a note in lipstick on the car

After they go through the inconvenice of washing it off they may consider how they inconvenienced you!
Aahhhh!

If I were in that situation I would seriously fantisize about just getting in my car, jamming it in reverse & flooring it right into the side of their car.... repeatedly!!!!!

Wouldn't that be so much fun if there were no reprocussions involved!?
FYI next time that happens( provided you're in no hurry to get anywhere) let the air out of all their tires. Don't pop them, Just take something that you can hold down that little part in the thingy on the tire that you fill with air and let the air out of the tires. It's fun, trust me......(not that I'd know first hand or anything.)

I had thought about doing that, but it would seriously be even more inconvenient to me - plus the whole point of having my drive was to keep my car safe!

I like that idea - may keep some long lasting stuff near the door for next time! That'll take them a while to get off the glass!

Oh I do fantasise, believe me!! The things that I could have done to the car if the if I wasn't going to get dragged off by the Police!

Is there something you're not telling us, Barb?

I would have considered that, but the area is pretty much littered with Police so I'd look rather suspicious!

Well, the finally left a couple of hours later Didn't find the note in my drive, so hopefully they might have taken notice!

Luckily I can keep smiling in the knowledge that I'll be moving soon and won't have to deal with these idiots anymore!

That would be SO annoying..especially if you need to go somewhere

My landlord told me last night, that with the new tenant coming to our place, I will ALWAYS be parked in, or parking someone in in our driveway...So, we are all going to be calling eachother and moving our cars around all the time? I am super pissed about this. I didn't move here to be interupted all the time to move my car....and I certainly don't want to call them all the time because they have me parked in either...

What a STUPID landlord I have.

Ugh, Natalie, that is incredibly annoying!! They seriously can't expect you to jump to it every time someone needs you to move your car!! What if you've been out for a drink or are away for the night without your car?

I hope it works out a lot easier than it sounds!
