That's hilarious! You should demand a promotion to Lance-Corporal.

Edited to say, I LOVE your new "Bit happens" sig.

I've asked for one in the past, and been denied. I think it has something to do with my father being a Cornel and my mother being a Major.

Shouldn't that mean you can pull rank on him?

DH served 6 years and my step-father 23. DH is deffinatley a neat person...and he insists on writing with these pilot pens, only the clicky kind. Other than that, he is so not 'military'. My step-father is very military when it comes to work, but not at home so much. Well ok...one particular summer vacation weekday morning being woken up by a whistle being blown in the hallway at like 7 am to get the house clean does come to mind.

DH didn't live in the dorms very long. He bought the house we live in now less than a year after joining I think. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, or the fact that he wasn't really too happy in the military. Plus I know the neatness comes somewhat from my father in law being a pack rat! My step-father grew up an army-brat himself. Home is the place to relax and be together for us. Plus I'm stuborn so DH's love of neatness has its boundaries too!

LOL, my ex used to tell me that I would have been a terrible soldier! I'm very stubborn and willful and don't take kindly to being told what to do,

As do I. DH has learned when to back off.

One of the things I like about this though is when he is motivated to do something it gets done well and quickly.

Dh had me laughing and thinking of this thread earlier....

.....I caught him humming the Air Force song. Which he denied, but he was! Silly man!

Welcome to my world!
....Colin was in the Navy for 8 years and was a fairly high ranking lt. / now that he is out of the navy, he is a cop....it never ends. I just accept it along with all of his strict routines
If we ever have children, he is going to have them marching around the house and making their beds at 6 in the morning
I can see it now. At least the house will be clean...

Colin is exactly the same way.
Yet another thing him and your dh have in common- I swear those two would love each other if they ever meet.

) He will do laundry, dishes, sweep and mow the yard before I can even pour a cup of coffee. It drives me crazy.. I have had to retrain him that yes, you can sleep past 4:30 am, it doesn't hurt if your pants are a little wrinkled, and no, we don't have to be up just because you're up!
Uhhh I feel you! Colin was a Naval lt. for 8 yrs....he is up at the crack of dawn every morning (and he even works nights 2-11 or later some nights) yet he still wakes up way tooo early! Did I mention i'm a night owl?
So when I get ready for bed, he's waking me up and vise versa....Some days I feel bad because he's up, showered, and already working out in his garage on something before I even wake up
I just wanna smack him and tell him to get back in bed for a bit and sleep in with me. I don't think he understands what "sleeping in" means. That's definitely the military in him...but at least he isn't lazy

My husband was in the army for 5 1/2 years (Sgt.) & is a Desert Storm vet, one brother-in-law also served in the army, and my youngest brother-in-law is army reserve who has done one tour in Iraq so far and is due to go back overseas sometime in this upcoming year.

I didn't meet my husband until he was already out of the army, so can't say if it changed his habits..but he sure can sleep late! Though that may be because he used to do night duty. One thing he has told me that changed is that from his time in Saudia Arabia, he developed his habit of needing a fan on while sleeping...even in Winter!
