He has been having diarrhea, nasty farts, his poo is sticking all over his behind, he has little bumps all over his neck (this isn't related to the diarrhea I don't think, seems like fleas but he has been flea treated every month and bathed with Dawn first and I just don't see or comb any fleas off him). Anyways his butt also looks weird, has little cling on things where his anal glands are, I think there may be a problem there too.

I was going to take a fecal sample. How fresh does one have to be? I got one LAST night, the 30th, I haven't seen him poop again since (I know he has but with 8 cats and working all day I haven't actually seen him go). Is it too old or should I take it?

The poop should be within 24 hours, but one slightly older is better than none at all. Just be sure to let the them know when it's from. They should be able to "collect" a sample while he's there if they feel it's necessary.
