Opened up an email last night from The National Security Council. I have a good friend in Belgium who likes to dummy up strange emails to me so I thought this was one of his pranks. Wrong- the virus crashed my computer. When I finally logged back on the only thing I could get said this

"Access to server not allowed. Note your IP address is being recorded. Any future attempts to access this server will be be reported to the proper Federal Authorities. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!"

The strange thing was, there was no attachment to the email when I clicked on it. But had to just wipe out the computer and start over from scratch. So thought i would give you all a head's up on this one.
If some people are so talented, why don't they do something useful with that talent instead of wasting it like this?

Hissy, your virus protection didn't catch it??

I update mine every week so there is little chance of getting something new.

That's scary!!!!
My son is one of those people who is extremely talented when it comes to computers. He gets really frustrated because people (mostly employers) are unwilling to take his age group seriously and let them put their talents to good use. (I am assuming the virus was created by someone who is young.)

Some people do this stuff just to prove they can. I guess in some parts of the hacker world it's considered cool to be able to send out viruses and cause problems to other computer users. It is too bad they don't use their talents for some good purpose.

This is one more reason I stick with the Mac....Macs are significantly less susceptible to virus attacks. (Currently there have been some 300 identified Mac viruses, but over 50,000 PC viruses.)

I guess these Pinhead-Virus-Writing-Hackers get a kick out of wreaking havoc in larger numbers...more PeeCee users out there than MacHeads....

I haven't had a single virus in 8 years (knock on wood) but I have unknowlingly passed a virus or 2 to PeeCee users by forwarding e-mail that contained a virus written for the windows platform. Hence; the Mac didn't recognize the embedded virus...So, I STILL read all virus alerts to insure that I won't pass one on.

Sorry you had to go threw all of that trouble, Hissy. What a time consuming pain in the rear, huh?

Forgot to add- this new virus wipes out your current anti virus detection. Had to reinstall the whole darn thing again THEN it caught it and quarantined it!

I was attacked by the Klezworm recently, and my anti virus didn't pick it up. But I have a computer friend who was able to save my stuff, and give me an anti virus that is resistant to the Klezworm.
