a friend of mine has a feral kitty she takes care of. We are working on traping & spaying her, but we are wondering if there is any sort of structure that can be built that will give her a place to stay safe & warm in the winter? She's made it out there for several years so I'm sure she can do it, but my friend wants to give her a warm safe place to stay on the very cold nights.

I don't know if your friend has a porch, but I made a tent home for my ferals. They have cardboard under the lattice to block the wind, a blanket on the porch, held down with the chairs and table, and a bedroll, opened up, spread over the sides of the porch and the table. I just tack it in with a couple of nails to hold it and voila!!!! we have a roomy warm place to stay. Of course, in Arizona the winters are not as bad as elsewhere. Someone mentioned using a bale of straw and hollowing out a resting place. That would be perfect.

I almost forgot about this post. Thanks for the info. I'm going to print it out and give it to her. I'm hopeing her husband will be willing to build one of these for the kitty.
