Gizmo has a very gentle nature, and all her resistance appears to be passive.

She didn't want to take her meds today. So she went under the small couch. I moved it. She walked under the couch and stayed below it as it swung away from the wall.

After two more tries I pulled the whole couch away (it is very light). So she went under the larger couch, a wooden Mission model that weighs about 150 pounds.
Fortunately it slides across the wooden floor without much trouble, but this isn't something I wanted to do at four a.m.

After two more tries I got the cat and gave her the L-lysine and Factor CQ10the same way I do every morning. I just hope that this rebellion, such as it is, has ended.

And a neighbor kitty, a lovely longhair resembling a Maine Coon, wanted to play with Gizmo in the hallway yesterday. I told hiis mistress to hold the cat, then I picked up Gizmo and opened my front door.

The young male (a kitten really) was all set to play and made all kinds of friendly gestures. Gizmo sat in my arms like a black and white lump. There was no discernable reaction.

Now, I expected eye contact, even a hiss. But she did nothing. Is this normal? Has she been an only cat for so long that she is uninterested in other cats? I don't think that this is the case since she is veryinterested in another apartment down the hall where two brothers (large black cats who are terrified of her) live. None of the cats have come into contact with one another and I'll keep it that way for the sake of the boys' mental health.

I've been wondering about a playmate for Gizmo for some time. Is it a good idea to ask the other neighbor with the longhaired kitten to arrange a play session (supervised of course?) He's a young cat that lives with a much older cat who does not play with him.

Gizmo is a surprising feline. I think she is going to get her meds at night tomorrow to throw her rebellion off a bit.

Unfortunately, strange cats don't have play sessions. They have fights, which is why long (wks) intro sessions in your home are recommended, plus you don't know the health of the other cat, and it's not like it's the one who'd be moving in, so it's best not to chance it - though what COULD occur (highly unlikely though) depending on who knows what, is that they gang up and want to go outside, which I doubt would be a good idea either!

Actually, since Gizmo is the one with the feline herpes, he's more likely to catch something from her.

There is at least no chance of their going outside to play. We're on the sixth floor of an apartment building with no direct access to the street.

I think the little kitten will have to just yearn after Gizmo from afar. Or at least from the hallway. Meanwhile, my girl gets all excited by some cats who don't want anything to do with her.

They're a lot like people, I guess.
