It is fun to sleep with a nice cat in the bed. I miss the little furball when I have to travel. Cats are clean. Gizmo only tracked stuff once and that was because I had cheap lousy litter. None of the litter I am currently using for her sticks to her or winds up in the bed.
Yes, she sheds, but so do I, and that's why one changes sheets. I even vacuum the bed in shedding season.

The radio does not work for Gizzy; she's simply not a music-appreciating cat. But it may work for you.

What works best for us 8 hour workers is: playtime as we are about to leave for work, and playtime as soon as we get home. Then lots of cuddles when we work at our desks. Gizmo is sleeping on my lap right now and she is very happy.

It does not take much effort and it's a LOT more fun than watching TV.

Just a thought, but is it possible for you to foster a kitty? I mean, then Trout would have a friend & you would be helping homesless kitties.

Let her in the bedroom. There are few things cats enjoy more than cuddling in bed with you, and she'll feel less isolated.

Also, do you spend time playing with her interactively? Sit down on the floor with her and find things that she likes to play with. With Dori, it's either the Cat Dancer or a long string. I throw the string out while holding onto one end, then slowly pull it back towards me.

Dori was an only kitty for almost 3 years. She did just fine. If Brody hadn't shown up, she would still be all alone. She likes it better that way...

She's probably on the cable box because it is nice and warm.

Abby is an only cat. Because of my allergies, I only have one, and she is not allowed in the bedroom. I am sure she would love a companion, as it seems I am her other cat that she mews at to play with and chase around the house. I will have to take a picture for you of Abby when she plays sad, pathetic cat. She has that look down pat, and knows how to use it.

I agree that you do need to try to spend some quality time with Trout, but you also need to relax about it a bit.

Hi Trout,

Pickles does the same for me. She will just walk around and meow for about 45 min. Ive been off work for my 2nd week now due to getting diagnosed w/ bipoloar. Ill be going back to work friday. I dont know if she will be happy or not to get rid of me. But i understand how you feel when they meow and you dont know what they want. Especially Pickles, she has all the toys in the world, tons of food and treats, steals all my blankets, and she can sleep w/ us at night...so this cat is spoiled....Pickles i mean. I dont know what to do when she meows. Sometimes its attention, sometimes she just wants to go outside, and i have to keep telling her no. I take her for walks on a leash....but...when i dont have time to take her out and she wants to, i just have to have the courage to tell her no, but then sometimes i give in anyways. I love my Pickles, and im sure Trout loves you too. Hope things get better.

Definitely!

Plus, in our house, I think Molly has learned that she can get extra ear rubs from her papa if she pretends it's really itchy.

Actually, I couldn't let her in last night because I had some laundry on a gullwing drying rack and she Loves to mess it up and play with it...but tonight I am going to try...hopefully it goes well.

Have you ever thought about Fostering a kitty?

I volunteer at a no-kill rescue in St Thomas here, and we foster out adult cats into homes. We pay full vet care as well.
We send cats into foster homes all over pretty much. We've actually got quite a few in London.

Hoope she feels better soon.

Sorry guys...but it's time to dredge up my "famous artwork"......

This has been posted many times before. This is my bed......every night. And I'll tell you what...it may take you a while to get use to it, but once you do you can't sleep without them.
You will get use to it and you will love it!!!
Trust me!!
This is why I"m single....there's no room at all for a man in my bed and the cats keep me warmer than any man could.

oh and by the way...the whole closed door thing...it's a cat paranoia. Believe me! My girls come in the bathroom and my bedroom with me all the time, they know what these rooms look like, but the minute I close the door on them you'd think someone was dying on the otherside. Howling, meowing....pathetic!! spoiled!!!

How can you resist the opportunity to take a pic like this?

If you're really worried about fleas, comb Trout every day with a fine-toothed comb. I take Jamie outside for a walk every day, and then comb him right away, even when it's too cold for fleas. He loves it, and insists on it.

it wouldn't hurt to have a flea comb around the house, but she probably doesn't have fleas anymore. none of mine do, but they scratch occasionally anyway - just like their meowmy!

That looks like our bed.......except for the fact that there are TWO people sprawled between the cats. We've been seriously considering moving up to a King Sized bed. We always have let our cats sleep where they please and in the colder months you can bet that the bed is full of ......cozy.......warm....cats. We sleep very well as someone else said.......you do get used to it.

Some cats just require more attention. I'm a grad student, so I'm home with Lucky most days, yet, if I even shut the door so I can go to the bathroom, he's meowing. I think Trout just misses you. If you've been treating him for fleas for over two months, it's probably a safe bet that he's ok to sleep with you. If you're really concerened that he might have something, take him to to vet for a quick check up, then let him snuggle you at night. After a few weeks of crazy nights, Lucky is now on the same sleep schedule as me, and let me tell you, it is a WONDERFULL thing!

Mine have always slept on my bed - I wondered what the matter was when I moved here as there seemed to be no room, and then I realised that my bed in Sarajevo was much wider! But seriously, if you keep Trout flea treated every now and then in case you bring something in, then the chances of anyting nasty are almost 0%. I can't sleep without the cats and they each have their place on the bed.

When Taz was an only cat he would meow very loudly at times, just walking around the house. I had fostered him for a couple of months and had just recently adopted him. I thought he was lonely, especially when the other foster cats were gone. So I adopted a 2nd cat as a companion for him. It did seem to settle him down for quite a while but he still does it, mostly right after I go to bed. He does have access to my bedroom at all times.

I have had to keep Salem in his own room when I can't watch him because he no longer wants to share a litterbox with Taz. I'm wondering if it's because he doesn't have Salem to play with at night but I'm just guessing.

I think she just needs her mom to pay more attention to her. I know my boys can be velcro at times and follow me around. I usually have 1 or 2 dogs and Taz in the bathroom when I'm getting ready in the morning. Taz always has to share the couch with me when I'm laying down and never rests on it alone. Well, he will share it if Indy is using it. I guess he knew I was talking about him because he just jumped into my lap. Gotta go and give him some attention.

I am late to game but curious, why hasn't anyone pointed out that if the Trout had fleas that a locked door would keep them out and they would probably infest the house? I also wonder if someone who is rarely home and does not really have time to cuddle with her cat and won't let them sleep in her bed because she saw one flea two months ago is a great candidate for a cat rather than a stuffed one. Also it bothers me that she thinks he may have a tapeworm and does not take the poor cat to the vet.

Natalie(I really hope I got your name right!) loves Trout more than life itself & has taken excellent care of her. If you go back & read she never saw any evidence of tapeworms...it's just from the possibility she she might have brought fleas home.

Many people have cats that are gone much of the day. There are also some people who just don't want cats to sleep in their bed. It's a personal opinion & decision.

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
Can I just add that if you are sleeping with Trout tonight, and you have never slept with a kitty before, do not be under the illusion that you will just get in bed and she will just lie down peacefully beside you and sleep

Because it is new to her, and there will be a great novelty factor 'great Mum wants to play at night!' you will need to percivere until she understands that when you let her into the room it is time for sleep not play.
Eventually she will get it. Unless she is an angel and this starts from the first night but I doubt it
So prepare for a little bit of broken sleep.
Honestly though, I am so pleased you have decided to let her in. It is the best feeling in the world feeling a weight on your chest in the dark, purring away

I guess Natalie should have updated you all: Trout has been sleeping in the bedroom for quite some time now, and loving it.
