OMg...I'm so glad to hear that! An allergy can cause her to react like that?

This may be "way out there", but perhaps she has some form of post-natal depression or schizophrenia caused by hormonal changes? I've never heard of it in cats, but why not, if it happens in humans? A friend of my sister's has a dog (Border Collie) who freaked out when her puppies were about 5 weeks old, and literally destroyed the furniture. She was put on some sort of medication for a few weeks, and then spayed, and she returned to normal, other than a few false pregnancies.

I'm at school right now so this will be quick, but they won't put her down because of an allergy, right? I'm praying for you all!

crossing my fingers that it's an allergy, cos at least that sounds treatable! although I've never heard of an allergy causing aggression...that's really strange :/ Good vibes still coming your way <3

I'm very late to this thread. What an ordeal! I hope the vet finds Reilly's problem and it's something treatable. Meanwhile
-- glad Jake is OK.

<<<Lots of good vibes from us to for a happy ending>>> I can't magine an alergy causing that type of reaction but that's great if it is because alergies are treatable. Hang in there. We're all pulling for your family.

That was SOO cute! Thank you. It made me smile!

Ok, good news, bad news, but it could be worse.

It's an allergy!
But guess what it is?

To JAKE!
Go figure! She's allergic to dogs! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I haven't! Soooo, since there is not a medication out there for a cat who's allergic to a dog, we are going to have to re-home her
And she won't be allowed home. I called 5 different vets and no one has heard of such a medication for this. They have heard of a cat being allergic to dogs and they are almost always re-homed.
This afternoon they took her out, she was a little aggresive but not near as bad, gave her a good bath, washed the towel I left with her, and she's fine!

No, here's a decision. I can either wean the babies now since they are already eating dry and wet, OR I can let them all go to a foster home with Reilly until they are old enough. The vet said they only problem with them going with her they could develop the allergy also but they should be young enough now to not have it passed on to them... he hopes.
I've talked to DH and I think we are just going to re-home Reilly with a friend of mine who has only one other kitty who is 17 and is very calm and serene.
Do you guys think that would be a good decision? I mean, the babies ARE eating on thier own I would say almost 90% of the time....

I'm just happy Reilly is not going to have to have a surgery or be PTS..

Oh, and she's being spayed tomorrow morning!

That's excellent news!!!!!
I'm glad she is going to be rehomed with a friend!
I would keep the kittens with you and go ahead and socialize them.

What a relief that she will not have to be PTS! I would never have thought it could be an allergy to dogs, but I suppose it can happen. At least, even if you have to rehome her, you know that she can live the rest of her life happily if you can get her adopted to a dog-free environment.

It is bitter-sweet, I can't imagine what it must feel like to know that your cat can live, but it cannot be in its current environment at home with you. I hope you can find her a home where you can visit and keep updated on how she's doing.

I guess this is kind of two sided. You don't have to pts Reily but you still have to give her up is a bit ironic. But I am glad she doesn't have to be pts. I surely do not envy you and I praise you for putting her needs ahead of wanting her to be with you. And I hope rehoming her with your friend works out. Hugs to you all. And I think the kittens will be fine now. They are old enough to be weaned. Sometimes circumstances call for changes in what we would like to do. I hope everything works out and she gets a loving home.

I'm so glad that at least there seems to be a solution thought a very bittersweet one. More prayers for you and your family.
