amoxicillan/ same for people?

Someone just told me that the amoxicillan antibiotic used for cats is the same as the one used for people. Is this true? I have never heard this before.

yep, we can actually get it over the counter here in Spain - and a lot of the stuff that gets prescibed for my cats are for humans too !

Same chemical, but people usually get a pill version. I think I'd have to drink the whole bottle of Lily's amoxicillan to get a dose for a human adult.

Yep, these little bungles of fur are so different and at the same time so much the same is why they are so fun and loveable.

Yep. It's real fun trying to administer the children's cherry-flavored liquid to a cat!!!

Your vet must use a different brand. The packaging on mine is labeled "For veterinary oral use." I have no idea if it's flavored or not, but it is pink.

The stuff I got was pink, labeled "pediatrics", had to be refrigerated, and was definitely cherry-flavored. It even smelled like cherries! Oh, well, it did the trick. I felt sorry for poor little Eve, though (our nephew's cat I volunteered to "medicate"). She definitely would have preferred salmon or tuna-flavored, but was a real little "soldier" about enduring her meds.

The drug is the same but delivery systems can be different, which is why in some places it is labelled for vet use. In Bosnia there was no such thing as special veterinary meds so everything I got was human, and hte vet told me what dose to use. I used to get pediatric amox too - the cats quite liked it, especially diluted in a little goat milk!
