I have 2 very smart, spoiled cats. One of the cats sleeps with us at night. No problem. The other one is more of a "night owl" like most cats.

Well, when Simon (the night owl) wants to play at 3am he stands outside my daughter's door and meows. He knows that if baby gets up, mommy gets up.

I've tried locking both of them in the livingroom/kitchen area, but then Max (who usually sleeps with us) wails all night. (I have to lock them both out there because the litter box and food and water are on that side.)

So, if I leave the door open Simon wakes the baby. If I close it, Max keeps us awake crying. I could lock them in the kitchen, but I hate to do that.

Any other ideas? Thanks!

Could you maybe just put Simon in the livingroom/kitchen area at night, and have a separate litter box and food/water bowls for Max near your bedroom?

So if Max is good and sleeps all night, maybe he dosn't need the food at night, and you could just add a night time litter box for him in the area ??........ I would only lock up the cat that needs it. He will get used to the new arraingements shortly, you KNOW how smart they are. And poor baby needs all the sleep she/he can get, probably mommy does too!!
