No, this ban is wrong!! The government cant not be allowed to take away any more of our rights. Now, I understand not smoking in most indoor places, such as stores, theaters, most places of business and goverment buildings, but bars and restaurants are ok, as long as it is cleary posted that the facility does allow smoking, so that YOU can make the choice to go in. I do not need the goverment to make decisions for me. I have been able to avoid second hand smoke without any problems. The small amount of second hand smoke you breathe, lets say in a no smoking section of a restaurant, is not going to hurt you. I am a NON smoker and I never notice it unless, the restaurant has a really bad non smoking area. If you live with someone who smokes and you have to deal with the second hand smoke all day long, then yes, I can see where there could be harm from that. I understand the concerns about people who are bartenders in a smoke filled bar however, no one told them they must be a bartender, not now anyway. That will soon change if we continue to let the government take over every bit of our lives and free choice. I have never been outside where someone's sig smoke has bothered me. Honestly, I can not see where second hand smoke is that bad, unless you are confined to it all day. But I do not see where that is a problem, only in bars and restaurants that allow smoking. The outdoor air is already polluted with automobile exhaust and pollutants from industry, we must ban these as well...right?? I have to ask this and I do NOT intend to offend anyone..How many people here, who support a ban on smoking, because they feel it is bad for their health, think nothing about getting into their car everyday and drive?? Do you realize how dangerous that is for your health?? We do not need goverment bans. I have stated this many times and I will say it again. This is bad bad news for all of our rights. I hate the idea of bringing my animals into this conversation, but I and other exotic animal owners, have to fight against stupid ban laws all the time and fight for our rights to keep the pets of our choice, because a few think owning these animals is dangerous. I see these ban laws everyday, because I am very much involved in stopping all bad legislation. I am telling you this, because once my right to own exotic cats is banned in all places, all our rights to own ANY animal will be banned forever. I am not making this up and it is not over exaggeration. The AR (Animal Rights) people hate the idea of you or I owning ANY animal as a pet. Let me tell you, they push for bans and bad legislation and these laws travel from state to state, county to county and city to city like a bad disease. Just read the animal laws in one state that has a ban and look at the laws in another state that has a ban. The law is the same exact law, word for word, in other words, a copy cat law. Most of you here do not know it, but your rights to own your cats is already under attack. Just look at how many places limit the number that you can keep!! I am not talking about the people who own 100's of cats that can not take care of them all, I mean many places you are allowed to have maybe 2-4 cats, that's it!! Quietly, those numbers will drop even lower, because we allow these bans to pass. If too many AR people get elected into high goverment positions, look out!! We do not need bans, period. We just need to work on guidlines and regulations that help all parties involved, the smoker and the non smokers rights. As with my exotics, no bans. We need good regulations that guide the owner to responsible ownership, that protect the animal so it gets the proper care it deserves as well as protecting the rights and safety of the general public. This can be done easily without any bans and so can smoking. In the state of Ohio, we have 2 smoking issues. One is a complete ban and the other allows smoking, but not in closed places such as stores, theaters, goverment buildings and most places of business, except bars, hotels with smoking sections/rooms and restaurants with smoking/non smoking sections. You would still be allowed to smoke outside, as we can now in this state. I WILL be supporting the NON ban!! I am a NON smoker as well.
