My dogs have found a turtle shell and it is empty. I dont know why-thats just odd to me,lol. How can its body just be gone, and the shell is still in place? I mean no cracks or anything.......
Does anyone know how that could be?

Is it possible that the turtle died, decomposed and just the shell was left? Are you sure there is no damage to the shell?

Yeah i think turtles decompose quickly like hamsters?

Someone told me that hamsters decompose in 1 day if left out in the sun

Decompose in one day, a hamster? I find that hard to believe. But if ants or other critters got to it in large amounts then they could strip all the flesh off in a day, also consider maggots too.

The turtle probably died and ants and other small animals probably went inside and ate the rotting flesh, maggots would clean up the flesh too within days.
