We only had them for two weeks but the 3 kitties I adopted from the shelter just one, Sophie survives. Last Thursday Titus an older siamese died. He had thrown up the day before but seemed otherwise healthy...he was dead the next day.
Last night the 12 wk old Dublin, died even quicker. He had been on antibiotics for Feline Influenzia and continued to have a stuffy nose but seemed to be eating fine. My husband was playing with him at noon yesterday and when I came home at 6pm he was completely lethargic. I took him to the emergency vet, he was dehydrated, hypoglycemic, and very cold, 94 degrees. It's possible he contracted coccida but he didn't show any symptoms on Monday when I saw him using the litter box. He died while they were trying to treat him. It's been really awful.
Sophie has been going nuts without her buddy Dublin since yesterday. Today she went in for bloodwork to rule out any common problems, she appears healthy. They still need a stool sample but she has firm stools as well and all the cats had recently been dewormed and put on preventative flea control. They all had their shots and were fixed before leaving the shelter...I'm hoping for Sophie's sake it was just very bad luck for the other two kitties and she remains healthy. I will have to get her a companion again as she is very lonely but I may try to get a kitty from somewhere other than the SPCA, I can't take another sick baby right now.

I'm so sorry for your losses.

Rest in peace Dublin and Titus; keep an eye on Sophie and the humans who loved you in life. Play happily at Rainbow Bridge.

Oh, my goodness...to lose two kitties so suddenly is just awful! I just posted about Inchy, a recently adopted kitty who died. It is so extra horrible to have someone chose a kitty, then lose it to illness so quickly!

I hope Sophie continues to do well. She will definitely need a companion...maybe check the Petfinder pages near you. My rescue posts at petfinder, and except for our recent loss of Inchy
, we have very healthy kitties.

How tragic to lose 2 babies
Poor Sophie! Poor you!
I am sending {{{prayers and vibes}}} that you find a healthy, new companion for your sweet little girl. Godspeed over RB, Dublin and Titus; you cross over RB knowing that you belonged to a real family who misses you very much.

Thank you very much. It appears Sophie is now ill and we are awaiting her bloodwork tomorrow. She has diarrhea and is depressed and not eating...I am trying to keep her hydrated through the meds I was given today from the vet...I hope it keeps her going, I fear feline distemper.

I am so very sorry. It is horrible to lose one cat let alone 2 then to have your surviving cat get sick. I hope and pray for you that she gets well quick.

At least they had someone to hold them. Someone to give them good food. Someone to give them medicine if they needed it. Someone to pet them, love them, talk to them, play with them. They looked at you as their mom, they trusted you, they knew you would do the very, very best for them, and you have.

This kind of love and trust cannot be bought for all the money in the world. It was freely given by you and received back to you from your babies. Hold those tender feelings within yourself and your babies will live forever.

Sad, sad headbuts and tearful, sorry licks from KittenKiya's Clan. We weep with you.
