Hello!! I am new here and I was brought here in search of an answer. I have a 7 month old Tiger DSH female, she came to me when she was 4 weeks old. I work for a local animal hospital and she was brought in by a local cat rescue with a severe upper respiratory infection. She was left in our care since we all thought that she was going to die that day. She couldnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t see b/c her eyes were crusted shut, could not breathe too well, and was cold to the touch. Myself and a co-worker worked around the clock to take care of her. Obviously she got over her infection and found a home with me. She cannot see out of her left eye because the retina detached but she still has it and it does not cause her any discomfort. My boyfriend and I named her One Eye Jacklean, Jackie for short.

So here is my question. Jackie gets mild URIs from anything. I was wondering if you guys know of any vitamins/supplements that I can give her daily to help out her immune system. Thanks!!

I started Iris on pet-tabs for cats and lysine (walgreens, walmart, human kind). She has herpes and is felv+ so immune system boosts def. were required.

Jackie's a beauty! So glad she found a home with you!

My little girl came to me with a very severe URI also. My vet gave me Enisyl, which is a goopy gel like L-Lysine that the kitty can lick off your finger. It's expensive, so now I just give my girl 1 500mg tablet a day crushed in her canned food. I up it to 1000mg a day if she's got runny eyes, itchy ears, or winky eyes. No URI in almost 1 year!! I use the human tablets found at Wal-Mart.

Thanks for the Doc and Fosters site, I forgot about them. I went to work yesterday and asked the vet that knows Jackie's case very well and she told me to use Enisyl paste.

Thanks for all the advice!
Also mucho props for adopting a FEL/fiv positive cat. I see too many cats put to sleep b/c they tested positive. If I did not have Jackie and have more room I would adopt them all.
