Is anyone else scared of fireworks and bangers, or is it just me been a wimp?. There is loads going off and i jump out of my skin each time. Snowy sits on windowsill watching them.

I take it that Snowy is not afraid. Fireworks are not allowed around here but thunder and lightning have the same effect, I jump out of my skin while Persi just sits in the sill watching the rain.

I like them if they are at a well organised, professional display. I am terrified of kids chucking them about though. I don't like sudden noises, but if I'm expecting firework noises it is ok - like if I see the rocket go up I am not afraid of the bang.

Fortunately I have never had a pet that was scared of fireworks. Radar will occasionally look up when one goes off, but he doesn't run and hide. I used to have a rabbit that loved them, he'd be in his outdoor run, standing on his hind legs and gazing at the sky watching them. Weird rabbit.

I don't mind them, and neither do the cats, but Cinnamon goes berserk!!! This year I forgot about his phobia (last year I was home, and there'd been a ban on them) and left him home alone on 4th of July. Next morning I came home and there was a message on my machine from a neighbor 1/2 a mile away and across a major two-lane highway
that they had Cinnamon in their yard!!!! I have since been setting aside money for a new chain-link fence

Fireworks are popular here on New Years Eve here. Several people on the street set off lots of firecrackers. Aerials are supposed to be illegal for private use but some people find a way to purchase them. I stay inside every year because of the noise and smoke. I also keep the doors and windows closed as much as possible to muffle the noise for the cats. And I have music on all evening. They spend a lot of time hiding that evening. Palekana is particularly afraid of the noise so I have to cuddle and comfort her.

I do enjoy public displays put on by professionals.

I love them - but the kitties are "scared, curious, afraid they'll miss something". What are the fireworks for?

I LOVE fireworks! I think they're gorgeous when done right. (I always wear earplugs when I watch them though because the exposure to loud noises over time can damage your hearing.
) My animals usually don't mind. The only one who does is my Wolf/German Shepherd Dog mix Ginger- she howls incessantly and goes bezerk! She also does that in thunder/lightning storms as well though- she takes tranqualizers everytime it's supposed to rain for her anxiety attacks...so that usually helps
Other than that though, I think we're all ok with fireworks.

This is a random question, but did you by chance name your cute little Palekana after the dog on The Gilmore Girls???
