My new kitten i adopted recently is VERY clingy to people. when frightened she jumps on my shoulder and wraps herself around me. but whats really bothering me is that i have other pets (dogs and a cat) but she almost refuses to associate herself with them. my dogs are harmless, they are about the same size as the cat. and whenever they send signals indicating that they want to play with her, she misinterprets them and hisses and then that gets my dogs barking at her. from the looks of her behavior she most definately is a people cat. it's worrying me because im always supervising them and whenever i need to go out, i dont want to have them fighting. i need her to aqquiant herself with them so she can establish a relationship with not only humans but animals too. i just wonder if this is normal behavior for some cats. i know she grew up with other siblings so it's really got me curious. i wish to know if theres anything i can do to better assist my new kitten in becoming friends with the other household pets?

When you go out (at least for now til she's bigger) keep them separated or either there will be an 'event', or you'll always be anxious. She's too young maybe to be expected to deal with dogs (who to a cat may be smelly, scarey and loud), or even another cat. She will relax the clinginess as she gets older, but give her time - months, at least. She may just have a different personality to others you've known, like people, and be shy, but the most counterproductive thing you can do with a shy person is shove them into a crowd all at once.

How old is she? That's kind of cute that she wraps herself around you.. poor little thing.

My kitten, Slinky is 4 months old and just today my other adult cat, Jazmine was trying to play with her and she's so scared she just climbed up on my shoulder and it really hurts because she digs her claws inside me. she has such a unique personality, not like any cat I've seen.
