So I need some help. I want to start investing the money in my 401k so it earns more for me. I have no idea where to start! I know nothing about 401ks or investing or even whaqt earns the most and what is safe or whatever.

Any pointers from anyone here?

this is how I have my 401(k) split up, not sure if these are called the same on yours, but they should be fairly similar
Interest Income 10%
Large Cap 30%
Small/Mid Cap 30%
International 10%
Global 20%

Interest Income is like bonds, slow gowing, but very safe. As a younger investor you can take a little more risk. I've been considering taking my 10% out of there and adding it to my international. If you have any more questions feel free to ask or you can go to the library and get "401(k) for dummies", it is a very good book, easy to understand

good luck with that! My plan is to work at my current job for 30 years, only 23 more to go
, I'll be 52 at that point, and then going back to work, hopefully in the school system as a counselor
for another 15 or so.... I'll have the summers off to travel, etc. Yes I like to work!
