One front paw, one back paw - I call that success!

I've been making attempts here and there to try to clip Ferris' claws when he is as relaxed as possible. With him being so feral still, I know better than to try to catch him and hold him with one arm while going after the claws with the other - I'd just be asking to be clawed to pieces, and possibly bit in the bargain.

He's shy about having his paws touched, but I've been working up to it, trimming one single claw occasionally here and there, and this weekend I was actually able to do one whole front paw and one whole back paw before he got too irritated with me and got up and left. Yay!

The last time we were at the vets they asked if I wanted them to do it but I said no - I need to be able to do him on my own. I'm so glad it looks like it will be possible - even if it's just a paw at a time! Woo-hoo!

I think I will ask them to do all 4 paws on Friday, though, since he'll be put under for the neuter - makes sense, huh? Might as well.

Yeah! I usually don't trim regularly, if the nail clippers are in reach when a cat falls asleep on my lap I'll do them, but most times I can't reach the clippers without disturbing the baby
I'm taking in four of my munchkins to get snipped on Nov 2, so I'll ask if they can trim their claws then too, especially Orion who is still very jumpy, I'm going to get his collar on him too while he is still groggy

That is definite progress.
I have a tough time with Abby's claws also

Ginger is SO easy I got spoiled - I can do all 4 on her at the same time, even though she complains. She always gets a treat afterward.

I learned here on TCS about trimming the claws when the kitties are relaxed or sleeping - it really helps with the task to have a relaxed and compliant kitty!!

Absolutely have them trimmed while he is under. They did my kitten's that way and his nails were wonderfully short and blunt (better job then I can do).

I only trim my kitty's front nails -- the only reason he lets me do it is because he is a sucker for treats! Sometimes he is a real pain (wiggles and cries) but usually he puts up with it.
