I got an e-mail from an estranged friend (long story) this morning that had a link to her husban & kids in a local paper. Her son's costume is the Grim Reaper, doesn't seem to unusual for an 11 year old boy. What seamed strange was that her 7 or 8 year old sister is dressed as an Angel of Death. What ever happend to little girls going a princesses & Witches? Maybe I'm just way out of it, but it seems like a strange choice for a little girl.

Oh I don't know - she was probably matching her brother.

edit - it's better than choosing a Bratz character!!

I went as the Headless Horseman when I was about 10, so going as the Angel of Death doesn't seem all that strange to me. I never wanted to go out dressed up as a pretty princess -- I always wanted to be a (non-sexy, unattractive) witch or Robin Hood or a bloodied accident victim. I designed my costumes myself and my parents always supported my creativity; I also had a seamstress for a grandmother, so she helped me out with the tricky bits. I loved getting dressed up for Hallowe'en -- still do!

Yes, kids have changed SO much. Even in the last few years

When my oldest son was 4 and went trick-or-treating, he went as spiderman. Now this year, my now 4yr old Deacon is going as a Grim Reaper with a bleeding mask
Yeap... times have changed. I remember going as a "shadow" one year. I dressed in all black, sprayed my hair black, and painted my face black. That was as creative as I got
