My cat is acting strange and doesn't do anything anymore why??

My cat Gilly hasn't been acting himself for the last couple of days. He just lays around all day long and won't eat and will drink a little bit of water. We are probably going to take him to the vet today but I want to know if he could have a broken rib. He also meows loudly and it sounds painful when you try to pick him up. Does anyone know the cause of this??

It does sound like he's in some sort of pain. The vet is the best one to judge it. My Petunia (RIP) only growled at me once in her life and it turned out that she had kidney stones on both sides. So it could be many things.

Could be many things.. maybe urinary blockage is what I first thought of.. please get him to a vet and let us know what happens.

There are tons of possibilities, from congestive heart failure to gas (seriously, I had a cat with painful gas in his belly once). Definitely take your kitty to a vet ASAP, since he isn't eating or drinking normally.

It turns out that he had damaged kidneys and we had to put him down.

Oh, I'm so sorry for you. I hope he did not suffer for long.
