I actually saw a good quality cat food for sale in a supermarket today. It was called Nature's Organic:

Ingredients:
Organic Chicken, Chicken Meal, Organic Ground Barley, Organic Ground Oats, Organic Brown Rice, Fish Meal, Organic Chicken Hydrolysate, Organic Peas, Organic Flaxseed Meal, Natural Flavors, Chicken Fat (Stabilized with Mixed Tocopherols), Salt, Potassium Chloride, Taurine, Vitamin E Supplement, Choline Chloride, Zinc Sulfate, Zinc Proteinate, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Organic Dried Tomatoes, Organic Cranberries, Organic Carrots, Organic Kelp, Organic Spinach, Dried Chicory Root, Turmeric, Niacin Supplement, Ferrous Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Copper Sulfate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Calcium Iodate, Folic Acid, Biotin, Sodium Selenite, Rosemary Extract, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Source of Vitamin K Activity), Dried Yeast Fermentation Solubles.

I know there are still better foods available at a pet store but I was really surprised to find a really good quality food in a supermarket.

There's a supermarket called Whole Foods that carries a high quality cat food called Whole Paws.

Trader Joe's also has a perfectly good line of food and they carry Bench and Field food and treats, which as far as ingredients go, look ok too.

Also, the two neighborhood grocery stores here carry Wysong and Solid Gold (for a huge markup, but they sell it).

What kind of a grocery store is Kroger? Is it a natural foods store or just a regular grocery?

regular grocery store. similar to Albertson's, if y'all have those, or Brookshire's, Burrus, Market Basket, etc. [those're probably all southern stores,

It was a little on the pricey side, $8.99 for a four pound bag and $2.99 for a one pound bag. Since mine are okay with changes as long as I stick with chicken dry food and I'm only 2 blocks from the store it would be nice in a pinch or just when I am too lazy or tired to make a trip to the pet store. I think though it's very close in price to IAMs, at least the supermarket price.
