Good morning all!

I thought I'd start our daily thread as I'm up so darn early. We live very close to a large international airport and beginning at 6am they decided to start using the runway for depature that sends them over our apartment
oh well, we knew it before we moved here.

I have athe next 2 days off
but I have so many errands to run I'm going to be very busy!

Have a great day everyone

It's cold, cloudy and windy.

The countdown to the Gem & Mineral show starts today. I hope everything goes well even though one of the best members we have had to go out of town for her job and won't be back until Friday night. She's wonderful at set up.

I have suitcases laying around, packed all my clothes up and shoes! T&K are having a ball getting in and out of boxes and suitcases!
I move next weekend its so scary! Time goes by so fast!

But its settled with my parents, they will only be living in Rome for about a year untill there is a vacancy in australia with my dads job.
We are putting up all our houses in Italy for sale so he can buy me a unit
and a house for him self. (in australia of course)
Just like this year and the previous years, next year is going to fly by really quick! so i cant wait!

Good evening,

My sunday is almost over and it has been a fairly decent one! I've just finished baking 6 chocolate cakes, a butterscotch cake and an orange cake - tommorrow is putting on the icing!

Have a restful sunday everyone!

Um, are you going to share? Surely you can't eat all those cakes by yourself

4 of the chocolate cakes were ordered, sorry! Tuesday is Eid El Fitri - a muslim celebration day to mark the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan. the other cakes are for my house. It's a Malaysian tradition to "open house" for family and friends on the various religions celebration days - you're all welcome to come!!!

Ramadhan is not a tradition - its a requirement, much like Lent but on a much bigger scale! In essence, you fast from sunrise to sunset, no food, no water during this period. It allows you to feel how others are suffering and to contemplate and be thankful for your own life and what pleasures you can enjoy. A form of gratitude and thanks to God for being you. At the end of it, we celebrate the month of Syawal, and the first day of that is a party, a celebration of a month of fasting, again, in gratitude and thanks - something like your Thanksgiving.

Malaysia, being multi-racial and multi-cultural absorbs all religions and faiths. For every religion/faith we have an "Open House" and on most occassions, there is FOOD aplenty. For the Chinese and the Muslims, we hand out what the Chinese call "Ang Pow" - little packets of money for unmarried and/or students, children. The theory is : the more you give, the more you shall recieve. I don't think the ang pow system works for all muslims - maybe just in Malaysia!

Ahh, I slept in nice and late today. So nice.
Once I got up I had a bunch of laundry to do and dishes of course, general tidying up. Will and I then went out and had Taco Bell for lunch and then we treated ourselves to a Dairy Queen ice cream...I just love to eat out!
I then put my electric candles in all the windows of my house, it's starting to feel like that warm and cozy time of year, getting dark early and I just love it! It's suppossed to be nice and chilly all week.
