Hi all. Me and my daughter cant decide what to call our new little kittens. We are keeping one and want a great name for him/her. I asked the kids at school, bless their little cotton socks. I had every childs name wrote down, but not one suitable for a little kitten. With me working at a school i dont want a 'human' name as it would just remind me of one of the kids. Can anyone suggest one. Mum is white and dad is black and white if this helps.

Well, I have used varioius naming themes at times. THere was the astronomical theme (which sort of crossed over into the mythology theme) and then there was the flower theme, and all our white cats have had "A" names and we've also had the gem and mineral theme.

Almost forgot the biblical theme we had at one time. Yes, our family has had a lot of cats over the years!

Maybe use the names of ancient British rulers?

They are not born yet. Snowy has 2 weeks to go. Her belly is huge and she waddles like a duck.lol . I have been told, but dont know if its true, that once she has dropped and kittens are under rather than at the sides of her, that she only has a week to go. With my calculations, date wise, she has 2 weeks left.
Mmmm.

You got some great ideas there. I like food names. I have a rabbit called Fudge and a hamster called Toffee. I wanted to call the kitten Biscuit or Cadbury but Michaela, my daughter, laughed her socks off at both these names.

Welcome to TCS!! My name is Nikki if you need anything!

Here are a list of kitty names I use sometimes with my fosters, or ones that i've seen and really liked. I hope you find some names you and your daughter both like.
Also, any plans to have the momma and kittens spayed after they are born? I'm sure there are numerous low cost spay neuter programs near you who can help you out cost wise when the time is right
/ Any plans for rehomming the kitties once they are an appropriate age after they are born? I think it's wonderful that you are planning on keeping one! I'm sure they will have a lovely home with you and your family! I foster for several local shelters in my area, so I have a lot of experience with pregnant cats as well as kittens- if you need anything at all or have any questions, feel free to pm me and i'll try and help you! Also, there are several other TCS members who hang out in the Pregnant Cat & Kittens threads who also have a large amount of knowledge on labor and delivery as well as other issues if you need help at any time. Hope you have a wonderful night!

I think cats name themselves most of the time. You look at them and boom, you know their name. They must have telepathy or something.

I was thinking of all these names for my kitten (he's all black) and I wanted to give him a unique name, but I ended up choosing something completely different from what I had in my list.

Some of the names I had listed are: Wraith, Shade, Haineko (pronounced "Hi" "Neh" "kow", coal cat in Japanese), Haibane ( pronounced "Hi" "bah" "neh", coal feathers), M&M (for Mallus Maleficarum, or "witch's hammer" in latin), Ignius, Darkness (lol, it's Darkness eveyone! Darkness is coming!), Lock, Collette, Geist (like poltergeist), and Espresso.

Ended up naming him Shamisen (a Japanese string instrument). He has slight tabby stripes on his forhead which reminded me of a stringed instrument and his meow is very high pitched and dainty, sounds like a shamisen.
