I think you'll have trouble getting one in the UK as they aren't a recognised breed. The GCCF does not recognise them and has no plans to do so in the future. Not sure about the other organisations.

That's very interesting, I hadn't come accross that bit of information on the GCCF website before. I take it that means they won't recognise the Savannah cat in the future, when it becomes more widespread. That's a shame as I find it a very appealing breed.

Hmmm, I didn't know GCCF doesn't recognise munchkins, neither does CFA. We got a few munchkin breeders in Malaysia but it's not worth it for you - the UK imposes a 6 month quarantine for cats not on the pet passport program.

My understanding of munchkins is that breeding to domestics is allowed since the short leg gene is fatal?? So you must mate a short leg to a normal leg...like Scottish folds. Do correct me if I'm wrong.

TICA recognise them... seems to be vaired views about the cats...plenty of posted information on USA sites and of course can import from there through the PETS scheme ... but I've been told it can cost upto 2000 dollars to make it worth while for the US breeder. They don't have health problems according to various vets ; the gene being natural occuring.

Have just read in the Guardian (article dated 2002) about an Essex (UK) couple importing munchkins...does anyone know of them ?
