and said that 8-Bit had demolished the NEW mini-blinds we just bought. I'm taking them down and not putting new ones up until we move.

Shame on you for putting up something so tempting.

Really! You should know that he would have to investigate them, LOL!

I know! It's like giving a little kid candy, he or she can't help but to eat it.

Oh 8-bit! Ya just had to break em in didn't ya? Litterally! DH and I have some that we will replace when we move...and not before then!

You mean the new toys you put up at the windows meomy?

I love to hear about 8-bit's latest antics, whatever will he do next!

Your better off with vertical blinds becasue they can get right through the slats on them, then they can look out if that's what he's trying to do. I have had mine for 5 1/2 years, no problems

Ahhhh.... now that's an idea! I shall have to invistigate that further to see if I can put some up.

Yup, verticals are the best! --in and out, back and forth. Ours have been up for 16 years, and aside from cat hair on the bottom 12 inches, they're the same as the day they went up.

Didn't you know that mini blinds are irrestible to cats?!

I had those when I had Petunia (RIP). She started laying on them in a way that kept pulling them out of their holder. But it was always easy to put them back.

I don't have to worry about my cats getting in the blinds, its my dog that has destroyed a few sets
post #15 of 28
Looks like you'e gonna have to put up some aluminum foil instead of blinds

Oh ya - our kitties LOVE the verticals - they run in and out and have soooo much fun! They only have the odd chew on them, and I don't think they're caused any damage so far. But then my policy is not to look too close

I can just picture it!!

Another vote for vertical blinds! Anya loves ours. She dives through them at high speeds to get in and out of the windows, attacks them at random, etc... and they still look great.

[font="Comic Sans MS"]8 Bit just had to play with the new toys. I can also vouch for verticals. Palekana crashes through them when she bird watches with no problem. They are easier to clean than mini blinds too.[/FONT

You guys have some great cat decorating ideas! I'll run over to Home Depot today and see if I can get some verticals for the window. DH put them back up last night, and they came crashing down at 4:30am.

You mean there are actually people with pets who put up blinds? Only kidding. My mom is constantly buying new blinds - she has 3 dogs and a cat. She tried the vertical blinds, but they were just as bad as the horizontal ones. The dogs managed to pull down at least one element a week. My sister (now 2 dogs and 3 cats) and I have long since given up, and switched to draw curtains and/or shutters. We have roll-down shutters, but aren't "allowed" to close them all the way. We have sheers for privacy during the day, but they all have pulls in them from kitty claws.

Same thing here. I'm not "allowed" to close my mini blind in my bedroom or the kitchen at anytime. The bedroom one is bad cause my neighbors driveway is right next door to my driveway (and window) and since I'm "told" to keep the blinds open a bit I swear he must get sick of watching me sleep.

Why arent you allowed to keep them down when you like??

I think you'll enjoy the CatOfTheDay ( www.catoftheday.com ) for Sunday the 22nd. Cute cat and wonderful story, and the cat is peeking through the blinds - or what's left of them.

A certain little kitty complains, because he can't see what's going on outside when they're closed.

That is hilarious!

We have blinds, I just took the wand (to twist the slats open and closed) off a few of them. And most of the strings to actually open and close the whole blinds are cut short and tied up out of kitty range. I find that without the enticing dangly things, the blinds are a LOT less fun for kitties. And as posted, keep them open far enough so kitties can still see out!
