Sorry for not doing much research into prior threads on this subject.

My neighbor just told me that his cat died yesterday. He said he came home to find that his cat had green mucus coming out of his mouth and rectum. Can someone please inform me as to what kind of poison this sounds like?

Thank you so much. It wasn't my cat, but I'm truly heart broken. That's one reason I keep my cats inside; I'm always afraid of what other people could do or are doing around their home.

Thank you again

Poor kitty!
to you and your neighbor.

Sorry I don't know about poisons.
Is your neighbor sure it was poison?
The only way to tell for certain is to have a vet do a necropsy.

Anti-freeze is green and VERY poisonous to cats, but I don't think it would be coming out of both ends...I'd make a vet call and ask the experts...

Unfortunately my neighbors didn’t do a whole lot about the incident except tell me. I asked if they called the vet and they said it would have cost them $60 for a vet to even see them, but if that were my cat I would have paid $6000, but that’s just me.

I do live out in the country and most people don’t care for cats. At this point in time I’m feeding a stray that I spayed/ released and I’m scared whatever happened to this one could happen to her.

I’ll be moving soon from this area and I’m so worried about her, but I’m finding it very difficult to catch her since she’s already experienced “the vet” after getting in the trap.

Are there any steps I need to be making even though the kitties body is already gone?

Thanks again

that;s so very sad
I've heard that antifreeze has a sweet taste to animals, making it even more dangerous b/c it seems appetizing to them

I lost my Napoleon to poison three weeks ago and since then the hamlet has found four cats dead and two barn cats are missing. It was a horrific death which I would go to any lengths to keep my cats from. They are all inside now. The vet thinks it was rat poison, but Napoleon was vomiting clear fluid and had dreadful smelly but normal coloured diahrroea. I was told that you have to do a necropsy within 12 hours or it is meaningless as the poison mutates into other substances in the body. So if you have any reason to suspect anything like that, do everything you can to keep your cats from it and at least ask the neighbours what they have been using, in a non-confrontational way..

Thank you so much for all the replies. I did find out that a man living a few doors down has been putting out rat poison to kill the “pest†that get into his trash. This makes me so mad! Seems to me this could very well be the culprit but itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s hard to prove without doing a test on the kitty.

My neighbor told his landlord that it was just an accident that the kitty died, but thatâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s not good enough for me. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll see in the next day or so what can be done, it should be illegal to place poisons outside of the home for any creature or child to get a hold of.

Thanks again to everyone for the help and the kind words
