I'm curious as to what some good cat foods are. I know alot about dog nutrition and am feeding my dog Innova EVO, and was thinking about feeding my soon-to-be cat the same. (but the cat formula of course)

I've thought about a raw diet, but I'm way to busy...

is there a better food for cats?

I'd really like to stick with Natura, but if theres a better food then

The EVO is a good brand.

What flavors of merricks do you feed? I've used grannys pot pie, my cats eat it but dont seem to love it also I find alot of hard and black chunks in it.

I won't feed Merrick to my cats anymore. In addition to the problem jonh453 mentioned, there was far worse wrong with it. This past April I found a bone, not a little fragment, but an actual 3/4" long bone, extremely sharp on both ends. If I hadn't chopped through the food, I don't want to imagine what that would have done to my cat if he'd tried to swallow it. I posted a thread about it, "Merrick canned food warning". It turned out other members had problems with finding foreign objects in Merrick as well.

When I called the company, the rep didn't seem particularly surprised or even concerned. The best they could do was offer me a coupon for a free can!

While weaning my cats off Merrick, I found bits of blue plastic in several cans of other flavors. I was thankful(!) that at least the plastic was colored so it was easier to pick out of the food... that wasn't the case with yet *another* can of Merrick which contained TWO 2" long pieces of 1/4"wide CLEAR plastic.

Evo is a good food .. Just make sure to give some canned so the proteins can be processed easier...

Good ... cause the ash in EVO is thru the roof ... and its protein is better utilized with proper moisture
