No Vacancy...One on the way!
Last Night I decided to clean out my rat cages.
I have a single white male and then a female and the two remaining females from her litter.
The two little girls were going to be snake food this weekend for Khan and Lola.

I started removing TJ and her babies from the cage when I noticed some really large poop. As i took a closer look I notice the poop moving...hey wait a minute...
those arent poopies...those are babies!!!!

Tj or her daughter dropped me a litter of 2 pups! I mistakenly put a male rat in...it wasnt a female like i thought.
(i've made that mistake before)
So once i found the now mature male (rat owners know what im talking about) i placed him with the other male rat and placed TJ, her daughter and the pups in a larger enclosure.

Ha! i decided to give EVERYONE names even though they will be food eventually. (except TJ)
The new mommy and daddy are Elvis and Pirscilla (or it might be TJ I'm not sure) and the pups are Batman and Superman.

Boy what a surprise!

actually it is about time we did breed,we are at the point where we need to buy a small sized rat for one snake. I was hoping to eliminate rats all together from my home because I know have stewie and hes a hand full to look after. I have a big ole ball python girl who is eating medium rats and a little boy who eats small rats weekly like clock work. Hes a good eater.
I've got the space but I get sick of the cleaning...blah

i just wish I could tell their giblets apart a little better lol.

There is a place called Mice on Ice that sells frozen mice for snake food. It would eliminate the need to breed rats in your house.

we do buy...and have thought about ordering them on line.
But they hardly ever that Frozen/Thawed and there is a convience to breeding feeders. its nice having them around since both snakes sometimes skip a meal and its cheaper.
