When I'm testing the water temp in the morning, our cat acts like he wants to jump in the tub so I move him away and when I try to get in he'll stick his paw up there so I can't shut the shower door all the way. It looks so funny. What the heck is that about?? I thought they hated taking baths? I bet he'd be in for a big surprise if I let him get showered on.

My cat, before she became pregnant, used to lay on the edge of the bath while I was trying to have a soak. Now she is too big but she used to scratch at the bathroom door until i let her in. On occasions she has fallen in but never seemed too bothered about it and just layed, very soggy, back on the edge.

I've had a few cats that liked to sit on the edge of the tub and observe the goings-on, or occasionally bat at the water a bit. I posted last week, though, about my baby Midget leaping into the shower with me one morning when she was feeling lonely and getting quite a shock when she was sprayed with water! Panicked, she leapt back out of the tub, directly into her litter tray. That was quite a mess!

We have a shower party just about everyday. They all jump in when I run the water. Then get frustrated when I turn the shower on. Still it doesn't stop them from trying to get back in.

My theory is if they get wet and don't like they will soon enough figure out Running water in shower = me getting wet!

Sparkle (my daughter's cat) jumped into the tub with her a couple of times when she was a kitten. What a weirdo!
Now, she sits on the edge and keeps her company during the bath.

Then she licks the water on the drain when it's over. Yuk!

Cheers, from

Baker stands in the shower at the far end, so he does get wet but not a full spray. He loves it.
Missy gets in when I'm done to bat at the drips from the shower head.

Well not really. See in the morning when I'm getting ready for work Gizmo will sit IN the bathtub and just stare at me. He does this every time. Sometimes he'll just go in there by himself, sit in the tub and meow away until someone comes in. It's actually pretty funny.

I don't think your kitty likes closed doors, even a closed shower door because that means you are on one side and she's on the other, and that just won't do! LOL

Every morning Spike jumps up on the rim of the bathtub and peers around the shower curtain while I'm cleaning up, and without fail he'll stick his head in far enough to get splashed and suddenly remember "Hey! Water is wet!" and then run away.

Whenever I take a bath, I usually have Spike perched on the rim of the tub, and Oz sleeping on the bath-mat on the floor. I am forbidden from taking a bath by myself -- if I close the bathroom door, both cats sit out in the hallway and YOWL at me. Clearly, they're concerned that I might try to escape through the second-storey window and race around the neighbourhood wearing only a towel. Yeah, that'd happen.

Myles sits on the edge of the tub every morning while I'm taking a shower. He puts his paw in to try to touch the running water and sometimes he slips and falls in...like this morning. He usually jumps out really fast but then always comes back for more.

Clover loves the tub. He will race you upstairs to jump in first - it's as if he knows why you are going upstairs. When he was about 6 mos. old he ran upstairs and failed to realize the tub was already full - you've never seen a cat move so fast to get out. I thought that traumatized him and he would hate water after that but here's what he does now. He showers his head to wash his face and then takes a drink EVERYDAY!

I'm sure you're right. Nice to see that I don't have the only weirdo cat that likes showers. He makes me laugh every morning with his antics and I'm not even a morning person.

my boy likes to sit on the edge of the tub and watch me while i shower because i used to leave the door open for him to use the litterbox. now the litterbox isn't in the bathroom anymore and i close the door cause it was kind of creepy being watched while showering...

I am glad to hear that my cats are not the only weird ones out there. Melody ever since she was a kitten will come and pace back and forth on the side of the tub between the curtains and meow, and she will also lick the water that leaks out of the faucet even though it is pretty warm. I have also found her sleeping in there on numerous occasions after I have showered and there is just a little bit of water left in the tub that has yet to drain. Uno on the other hand is my shower buddy! He and I have a daily ritual of shower curtain peek-a-boo while I am in the shower. It consists of him on the back of the toilet and me in the shower, then we peek at each other and he lets out a hell of a scream as to say "oh my god, there you are I thought I lost you forever" and every time I peek he lets out the same cry! I find it extremely adorable
and we are moving soon to our new house and unfortunatly we have glass shower doors so there will be no more shower curtain peek-a-boo
I am sure we will have to find other ways of playing peek-a-boo as this is one of his favorite games!

pisces love to sit on the edge of the bath while i shower & watch me. once when i decided to have a bath he walked along the edge of the bath & fell right on my chest. he was soo shocked & so was i, i got soo scratched on my chest. i tryed to grab him to get him out but he managed to get hold of the shower curtain & climbed to the top where he stayed untill i managed to grab hold of him & put him on the floor. he'll only sit on the corner of the bath now.

Jelly likes to sit on the edge of my shower and peek around the curtain at me. He only fell in once while I was giving my 5 year old a bath (boy was that a mess! He leaped out of the shower and ran to his litter box where he layed down! Oh my did I have a heck of a mess to clean up!!). The other night I took a bath (we just moved and I was weary from all the unpacking). While I kinda napped in the tub (my bad, I know!) and awoke to find Jelly walking across my chest to the other side of the tub and back again! What a silly boy... He also likes to lick the drain. He's allowed in until I am done, then I turn on the cleaning thing (Shower thingy) and close the door cause I don'[t want him licking that!
