Hi, i am new on the site, so a big Hello to everyone. I need a bit of advice on how to help my 6 week pregnant cat Snowy. Is there anything i can feed her other than cat food as she turns her nose up at it. She hates water, always has, so i have been giving her cat milk. I dont know if this is ok for the kittens. Also, i have placed lots of nesting boxes around my house so she can choose where she wants to have them. I have everything ready for her and her new little kittens. The only thing i'm not ready for is the actual birth. I'd love to be there and to help as much as needed but i'm worried that something will go wrong. I think i might just need a bit of reassurance that it will be ok.

firstlyover the next few day's start changing her food over to a good quilty kitten food with the cat milk i don't think this does any harm to the baby's but what you can buy is kitten milk replacment *KMR* this is very good for queen's and will do no harm atall make sure there is no way for her to get outside from now on as she could try nesting outside and you really don't want her to have them outside especially this time of year try keeping her at least 2 door's from outside if possible and remember once she has had her kitten's do not let her out for a few reason's the biggest is something could happen to her then the baby's will be left to you to hand feed and bring up which isn't easy and very time consuming and secondly she could become pregnant straight away the birth should go fine but thing's can go wrong someone will be along soon to give you better information then i can good luck and hope all goes well

Thank you XxtashaxX. I will try that. She hasn't been out now for weeks, she prefers the warm and comfort of her cosy bed.lol.

Because cats can become pregnant a few days after birth...we do advocate that you place your cat and her kittens in a room and have 2 doors between her and the outdoors. A second pregnancy so close to the first is not recommended which is why we advocate inside only until spayed.

no worries, thats all sorted. The next time Snowy goes out will be a trip to the vets. Lol. I'm really looking forward to the arrival of the kittens, they will be very much loved and cared for, and i dont want her to have any more. Snowy has become so much more affectionate, always wanting loves and cuddles. Its lovely, i hope she stays this way after she has had them too. She is sat on my knee while i type this, purring away. She is beautiful.

You should probably also read this article so you can be prepared with what's to come and what to expect ...

Most cats deliver without a problem, but it is always better to be safe than sorry. Make sure you have your vet's phone number handy as well as the number for your local Vet Emergency - when you are freaking out and have to try to find them, it will be a comfort to you to have them right nearby you.
