Cats nodding their heads

What exactly does it mean when they do this? My cat will look up at me from the ground and nod her head several times. Sometimes she does it when I am petting her, too. I took it as a sign that she loved me and was nodding to say hello or something! Anyone else have an idea?!

Gosh, I don't know. Sounds like affection to me. But I must say, Callie sure is cute!

I've never heard of a cat 'nodding'--maybe she's moving her head so you can scratch her where it itches? Try scratching under her chin and see if that provokes a nod?
