Hello everyone! I have a feral cat that has been living at my house for about 6 months now.Ive known this cat for over a year though cause she use to live across the street at my sisters before my sister moved. Now my house is where Baby stays. Thats what i named her.She has nevered lived indoors. She is very healthy for being feral but does show aggression when she gets upset. I feed her everyday along with some other strays. She has managed to let me pick her up but not all the time.My question is I dont know what to do with her in bad weather. Its getting very cold out now and very rainy and i hate seeing her outside in all this. Ive tried to put her in my cat carrier and bring her in the house but all she does is cry.She wants in all the time but i cant let her roam my house cause i have 3 cats that wont allow that at all.I even tried putting the carrier outside with warm bedding but i think that she thinks its a trap. I dont want to take her to the shelter cause i know they will put her to sleep and I dont want that to happen cause she is a very sweet cat but i dont want her to suffer outside in the bad weather.Any advice would be very appreciated! kittens

Do you have a shed or garage where you could give her a warm bed sleep in, litter box, food and water? That way she could be inside out of the weather. Or maybe even put out a doghouse filled with straw, or sawdust, or even blankets... for a warm place to sleep.

Hey Kittens....I do have a quick question...have you managed to get Baby spayed?? If not...now is the time to get that done before next spring. If Baby is intact, she will most likely become pregnant by one of the other strays. I would really suggest you borrow a trap and see about getting her spayed. The neuter scooter is in Indiana for Oct and Nov:

http://neuterscooter.com/ns/index.cf...clinicstate=IN

They have a special price for feral cats....$20 per cat.

I would see if they are coming close to your area and arrange to get all the strays fixed.

As far as shelters, here are some links to some good ideas:

Thanks for the advice! Baby is already fixed: so i dont have to worry about kittens. A doghouse would work out really well but i just hope she doesnt think its a trap cause my daughter put out a milk crate for her with bedding in it and she wont go near it and if i put food in their she will sit and whine at me til i pull it out. Thats why im so concerned about her being outside in the weather when its bad. Im still gonna get a shelter for her to stay in and work with her.I do have a shed but theirs a ferel kitty that already lives in their.Thankyou both very much for your advice its always appreciated!kittens

Hello everyone! sorry it has been so long since i last posted but ive been busy. I worked with this feral kitty for quite awhile to earn her trust and was finally able to bring her in the house and put her in a carrier.Wow it took alot of trust and coaxing but now she lets me pick her up and bring her in and put her in the carrier during bad weather.
She sleeps for awhile then goes back out. She is still wild however and i keep that in mind when shes in my house because of my cats. She growls at them if they get close to the carrier but i guess thats to be expected, otherwise she is very healthy and plump. Shes getting a bit chubby!
Probably cause i feed her a can of catfood everyday along with dry food!
I believe she has adopted my family as her own. Everything is great though and i will keep you all posted. Thanks again for all the advice! It was very appreciated!

Hello everyone. Sorry its been so long since i have replied. Just thought I would let you know that we took our cats to the vet today. I was looking so forward to hearing good news and our feral kitty Baby was so well behaved in their. I was so proud of her, but I received the worst news I could have possibly heard. Baby our feral didnt come back home with us because they had to put her to sleep. She tested positive for feline leaukemia. My cat Cocoa may have it now but I have to wait 6 months before I can have her retested.I hope not.Baby looked so healthy but yet we didnt know she was sick.I feel like im at fault for this. She was a part of my family and now she is gone.I loved her with all my heart. I hope she isnt mad at me cause I loved her so.My sweet Baby.I feel so bad . Not to many ferals get a chance in a loving home and Baby got that chance but didnt make it. GOD BLESS YOU ALL who has taken in a feral kitty that just wants loved.I envy each and everyone of you! kittens

So very sorry about Baby. You took excellent care of her and gave her love she would never have known. I hope the testing for CoCoa goes well.
I was touched reading your posts. Take care.

I am so so sorry
I know how painful it is. My much loved first kitty had FELV. It is just heartbreaking.

I hope your other kitty is ok.
