right i have 2 female's who are due to be spaded in the next 2 week's one had a litter of kitten's 9 week's ago and the other has only just turned 6 month's ( in london most place's will only spay at 6 month's) anyway my q is i have this tom hanging around my female's are kept only indoor's at the moment and if i have a window or door open they are locked away , this tom i think was the father of lilly's kitten's who are now 9 week's old , he used to fight with my male cat's (who have been fixed btw) but now they seem fine with him , what i'm worried about is when i have my tumble dryer on i have to have the kitchen door or window open or it set's my smoke alarm off anyway the last few time's i have done this , i go to the kitchen to shut the door the first time i shut the door a little while later this cat was scratching to get back outside , i had no idea he was hiding in the kitchen well i thought this was a one off but again and again it keep's happening could he be a stray ? he seem's very affraid of people what he seem's to be doing is comming into eat it's starting to get colder now so maybe this is y aswell ? or could he be a stray or just smell my female's? any idea's would be good thanx in advance

If he is unneutered then I most certainly think he is trying to get to your females, and to the food as well. Could you possibly neuter him too? Then you wouldn't have to worry. Or rehome him or something so he isn't right there waiting for your girls? That is great they are getting spayed though.

P.S. Don't be offended or anything but please please use punctuation when you post.
It is so hard to read and follow what you are saying when everything runs together. Like this part "my q is i have this tom hanging around my female's" I took that as the sentence first and I was going to say something about not letting the tom hang around your girls (for obvious reasons).

Thanx for the comment ,and no i did'nt take it to heart lol.
As for getting the Tom neutered , i really do not know if he is a stray or not , so there is really no way i could take him to be neutered .
Beside's he isn't one for letting you close , you only really see him in the evening's , but now when i shut the door or window i am more viglient ,and didn't see nor here him last night.
I will deffently keep a watch to see if i can see him going into anyone's house so i can speak with them about the problem. thanx again for your reply

It is easier if you hang on posters in the neighborhood and ask if somebody own him. Write: Found. Who owns this cat? Your telephone.
As a tom he can have rather a big district /revire - so take it in wide neighborhood, not only the nearests houses.

It will work either he has a home - or not.
Chances are also good if he dont have a home - but some other neighboor will recognize him and tell you so.

And if he dont have a home: nice if you can help him. Take him in for spaying at least.
You can surely lend a human trap from somewhere. Or make a own trap in a transporter-box, with food inside.

If he does have a home - please talk with the owners to let spay him. If they are reluctant, you can promise them you will help them with transport to your wet, and back.

He is deffently in tacked, i left some food out this morning i went to check and he was eating it, he saw me and run but he deffently has his bit's in place.
I have been told that we are no longer allowed to put poster's up of missing or found animal's , they get taken down by the coucile im in london by the way, and where would i go to get a trap?
The animal rescue's will not come out unless they are hurt or a danger to other's so any help with this will be great.

Vet clinic may have them, or farm and feed stores sell them. Shelters should have some and some places will rent them out. Call around and ask.

I would trap him no matter what and neuter him. If someone isn't responsible enough to do it and lets their male cat wander around intact well then too bad for them. I would say that if you see him often, you feed him, you can take responsibility for him. Neuter him and advertize in the paper to find him a home. Charge a fee to make up the cost and find a low cost or mobile clinic to neuter him it in case it takes awhile to find him a home.

The money isn't such a problem ,the low cost one's round here only charge 17 pound's ,but they don't normally do it unless they have had there injection's .
In 2 week's i am getting my female's done so cannot afford everything ,even though it isn't alot 30 pound each female is very good ,lilly has to have her booster shot at the same time that's another 20, and because i had to give up work i am relying on my other half's money lol.
I am going to phone around a few place's and see what can be done , i do think he is a stray as soon as i put food out he is there eating it, if i tempt to go out and open the door he run's a mile.
thanx again for the advice

He still run's if i try and pick him up, but it's progress.
The weather has been terrible here since thunder storm's and that, so i havn't seen him since. just hope his ok , just thought i would give an update.

XxtashaxX....given that he is a stray...is there a rescue group that would offer to fix him and find him a home?? BTW....good for you to have the females fixed.

good new's , i phoned up another rescue and they are sending me a trap once they have one aviabale, they said once we catch him they will pick him up from us and fix him , but the only thing they cannot do at the moment is take him ,so they said they would have to drop him of to me after.
I have phoned around load's of rescue's and asked about this , but they are all saying there bursting at the seem's, kitten season must have taken it's toll.
we had another break through this evening when he came for some food he came in the house for a stroke but as the door was his side as soon as i tried to shut it , he flew out of it , but he is getting more and more less frightend , he will only come near me if i am on my own , if my partner come's anywhere near he bolt's off again .
thanx for all your help, will let you know how i get on .
