I'm wondering if anyone can tell me, should I cut back my Asiatic lillies? I can't remember what I did last year, but they came in fine this year. The stalks are all brown with dead leaves and I just feel I should do something with them.

From what I understand from the "expert" - that's my mom!
She recommends cutting most things back - lilies, hostas, etc. So that they can get a good strong start next year. I haven't cut mine back yet, but I do also have two very large public gardens in my town and noticed that they both had all theirs cut back as well.

I haven't gotten around to cutting back mine yet. If you have peonies those should definately get cut back too. I like leaving perennials (or annuals) that have seedheads through the winter for the birds.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I just wasn't sure if it would harm them, but now I'll go right ahead. they look scraggly. And I have 3 bird feeders, so they won't miss out on any seeds!
