Okay, it's official. I'm in love with these little guys!
They've come so far in just a little over a week. Mickey is most loving little guy, when he's not busy playing, exploring and getting into things that is!
Monty didn't hiss or growl all weekend. He's still not quite sure of things, but loves to be petted when he feels secure, like when he's curled up inside a box of kleenex.
He purrs soooo loud! The little guys are make somebody very happy when the time comes.

Here's a few new pics if you're interested:

The only one who's actually seen them is Peter. I've been trying to keep my crew separated from the kittens until they're vaccinated and tested, but Pete snuck in the room once when I didn't close the door tight. He seemed very curious about the kittens. The girls haven't seen them, but definitely know "something" is in that that room. Gracie and Claire have been taking turns on guard duty outside the door.

Bless your heart! Your story with these babies (and momma) is very inspiring. If I could find even ONE person willing to help me trap, I would feel much better about taking on the 13+ adults and 3 or 4 litters of kittens that are hanging around my house recently. One litter is a little over 3 weeks and I know where they are (there were 5 but mama abandoned 2 after they were touched, and I managed to find a woman who would nurse them. yay!), the rest are younger, so I know I have to wait on trapping the mommas. I am just SO scared and overwhelmed and I cannot find anyone to help me. Once I get a hold of some traps (I cant afford the $50 deposit from the vet clinic), I am going to try to raise funds online to help get these cats TNR'd. (if anyone here wants to help, please PM me). I want to make a difference, but I feel very alone. Your story inspired me, though. What a difference saving 2 babies and spaying a female can make, huh? God bless you!!!! I wish you lived near me!!!

Awww, thanks! Bless you for what you're trying to do for the kitties in your area. I wish I lived closer. I'm so sorry you're feeling alone in this, but you're not. You've got lots of support here! Are there any neighbors or shelters/rescue groups in the area that would be willing to help? I sent you a PM with some information on low cost spay/neuter resources in CA. Hopefully that will help. If you need talk, feel free to PM me. Good luck!

You definately are not alone..and I would really recommend contacting vet offices to see if there is anyone else who works with strays that you can contact.

As most of you know from my thread in the CL, Mickey and Monty were fixed, tested and vaccinated yesterday and came home with a clean bill of health!

They were a little worn out last night, but that didn't last long. They're as wild and crazy as ever this morning!
I know a couple that's potentially interested in adopting both the little guys, but we're going to hold off on this for a couple of weeks, to give me a little more time to work with Monty. He apparently resorted to his hissy, growly, swatting self when one of the vet techs tried to handle him yesterday morning. I did warn them that could happen. Anyway, he's very affectionate with me when he's feeling secure, like when he's curled up in his Kleenex box. Last night I spent 15 minutes holding the box with Monty in it.
But, he clearly needs a little more exposure to different people and new situations, so we'll keeping working on that.

Mickey continues to be a little lovebug. He runs right up to me "talking" when I come into the spare bedroom and is always happy to snuggle if he's not busy doing something else.

I'm having such a great time with these little guys!

I really hate kittens.
I mean, seriously, why do they have to be so darn cute? Mickey's morning routine now is to just crawl inside my sweatshirt and purr away. Even Monty let me hold him for a little bit this morning without the benefit of his Kleenex box.

Peter had some contact with the little guys yesterday. He was curious, but wary and they just wanted to play with the big kitty.
Pete's not a big cat, but he looks huge next to Mickey and Monty. Will try to get some pics of them interacting.

I'm happy to report that little Monty took a major step today! He was curled up in a cat bed and I slowly sat down next to him and started to pet him. He was loving it, rolling around, showing me his cute little white tummy and headbutting my hand for more attention. Then, he voluntarily crawled into my lap and settled in, purring happily.
I was so proud of the little guy and told him so!

Also, my SIL brought my niece and nephew (ages 6 and 2 1/2) over to visit with the kittens. The kids have been raised with pets and know to be gentle, but they still got pretty excited and were a little noisy. Mickey did great, let the kids hold him, played like crazy, etc... Monty went into hiding at first, but eventually let me hold him and stayed calm while my SIL and the kids pet him.

I'm just thrilled the kittens, especially Monty, have come so far with their socialization. The couple that's interested in adopting both of them is probably coming to visit with them next week and, if Mickey and Monty do as well with them as they did today, I'm confident they'll get a home!

Well guys, I may be looking for another home for Mickey and Monty. The couple that was thinking about adopting both of my crazy little guys is now dealing with an older female cat in kidney failure.
So, it may not be the best time for them to bring a couple of kittens into the house. There's still a chance they may adopt, but I definitely understand that their focus has to be their sick kitty. Please send vibes for them and her.

I'm going to put the boys on Petfinder and will start advertising them a little more in the next week or so. As closely bonded as Mickey and Monty are, splitting them up isn't an option. They chase each other, wrestle and then collapse on top of each other. Too cute!
Whoever ends up with these guys is going to have so much fun and get tons of love.

So, please start sending vibes and prayers for a wonderful home for these sweet, crazy kittens. Thanks!
