Hello,
My name is Cathy and I'm glad to have found this site. I have several cats. One is 12 years old and in very good health. I have two other adult cats that just came to my house and decided to stay. They have both been neutered. I have a neighbor that has let his cat population get out of control. I'm aggrivated with him. He's not feeding them and they all come to my house. I tried to discuss this with him and he said he hopes they never come back. He had 37 kittens at one time. I've only seen 7 and several adult cats at my house. The female is pregnant again. We found good homes for 3 kittens and one died. Now two are sick and the vet said they have distemper. We've spent several hundred dollars on these babies. Took one to the vet this morning. Any ideas of what I can do about this situation? We have no humane society here and I don't want any of the cats or kittens put to sleep. I may have to find a second job if this keeps up. Thanks for listening.

Hi and welcome!

I'll be moving your post to the Cats SOS forum. Why not visit the new cat on the block forum as well for a proper introduction?

Is it possible to contact a humane society in a closeby town to see whether they could help? If not, perhaps you could begin a trap/neuter/and release program with the bunch.

You can read about TNR at http://www.alleycat.org/

I hate that you are left to clean up the mess created by this man. Keep writing to us and let us know how it is going.

Hello,
Thanks for sending the website. That's probably what I'll have to do. I'm going to talk to the vets here in town and see if they'll give me a little cut in cost since they'll be so many to bring in. Someone told me that's what they did for them. We brought the little sick kitten home and it had a bad reaction to the medication so back to the vet it went. We also found a kitten that's almost totally blind. My daughter works at the hospital and a nurse said she'd take it and keep it inside. She said she'll keep everything in the same place just like it's done for a blind human. I'm so glad she's taking it in. He's such a cute and sweet little fellow. Thanks again for writing.

Wow! It sounds like (other than the bad neighbor) you have a bunch of really great people living in your town. I tip my hat to you for trying to help out these neglected kitties!

I can only agree with my friends. I applaud your good hearted attempts. That neighbor certainly should be prosecuted. Hopefully, the link you have to alleycat allies will help. And the vet should know where the nearest no-kill shelters are located. You can't do it all alone, but bless your heart for trying.
