Can you tell the difference between if they are pooping or peeing?

Just for fun, I thought I'd ask. Not that it matters but I have no idea what Frankie is doing when I see him in his litter box. He kind of sits the same way no matter what he's doing. Just wondering if you can tell the difference in what they are doing when they are in there?

I can. It's all about tail position.
Plus Ginger stands up to poo whereas she squats to pee.

LOL! I was hoping someone else had this question.

I really cant tell either way. I know the outdoor Siamese mix I had always looked a bit 'inspired' when she was doing #2, but with Ceci I can never tell.

The only way I can tell before looking in the box is that when she does poop the box looks like a tornado went through, with litter all over the floor. Otherwise shes pretty discrete!

Gizmo will use the box to pee while I'm in the bathroom, but she won't poo in there unless she has some privacy so I have no idea how she sits or stands while she's doing it. All I care about is that she does it in the box and covers it up!

stoli forgets to cover it some times.

the only way i can tell is if his tail moves, then he's doing #2.

Molly jumps in and immediately sits when she's going to pee. When she jumps in and starts digging, I know she's about to poop. Plus when she poops, she sort of stands up a little more, while when she pees, she squats a little more.

Buffy's pretty normal, she digs before and after every poop and pee.

I rarely seem to catch Willow using the box, but when I do, she does the same as Molly, jumps in and pees without digging a hole first, and then jumps out and starts scratching at the floor (I don't think she likes the feel of Swheat Scoop). I can't say what Willow does when she's about to poop. Personally I'm starting to think she doesn't poop at all, the waste simply reabsorbes into her bloodstream, lol

Interesting. I'll have to pay attention to see if Frankie digs first when he hops in there. I can see his litter box pretty easily from the kitchen since it's in the laundry room which is right off the kitchen. I don't know why I care though.
Just thought it was kind of fun to hear from everyone on this.
