help PLEASE

ok i have a new kitten who wont eat he was born this morning and he is very weak she had 6 one died now i am woried about this one i tried everything to get him to nurse either he just doent get it or is too weak i ave cat milk but no formula what should i do if i dont get somthing in to him will he make it through the nite OH PLEASE HELP!!!!

First, calm down and breathe...sometimes this happens.

The best thing to do is dab a little corn syrup on his gums. If the blood sugar drops, they can't eat. DO the corn syrup, and see if he will perk up and nurse.

Also, be sure he is staying warm, a chilled kitten can't eat or nurse. If he seems chilled, put him in your shirt until he warms up.

I am very sorry for the loss of one kitten. It isn't uncommon to lose kittens, unfortunately. I hope the second one perks up for you. Are the others nursing ok?

Yes...you need to breath...it does not help him if you panick. Do put some corn syrup on his gums. If he still does not seem to want to suckle from mom...you should plan to feed him yourself....buy some KMR and a bottle to have on hand just in case.

i had to pry open its mouth it suckeled on my finger but is only sleeping on mom

I hope things went ok with the little one. Sometimes no matter what we do, we just can't save them. But I sure hope your kitten is doing better today!

Give us an update when you can!

I talked to desiree today, the little one that wasnt suckling finally got latched on last night after she gave him some Karo syrup and hes on the nipple like a champ...
