I've just found out that as well as being anaphylaxic to tree nuts and peanuts, I'm also allergic to

milk and milk products
rice
soy (inc. soy sauce, soya lethicin, etc)
pork
fish

No wonder I had eczema!!

Does anyone know any foods and/or recipes that are free of all these things? Soy is one of the hardest, cos it's in a lot of things (even dark chocolate, noooo!). I use oat milk as a milk subsitute, since I'm allergic to soy milk, rice milk and almond milk.

I dont know of any. Just wanted to say that I know how annoying it is to not be able to eat anything without having to check whats in it first! I have IBS so if I dont check for things that trigger it it can soooo mess me up. Also my girl Jada is allergic to everything! She eats home made food so that I can control every little thing that goes into her.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about allergy cooking. But I do have a few friends with food allergies, and I know it sucks.

It's hardest when you first find out, and it seems theres nothing good that you're allowed to eat! But once you learn more about alternative ingredients and learn to bake for yourself, you'll find that your culinary horizon expands again. And where to shop for everything. I have a friend in Christchurch who's celiac and lactose intorelant, and she's learned heaps about cooking with new ingredients and where to buy stuff, and has a varied diet.
It's frustrating when you can't go out and just order whatever you want off the menu. My friend has gotten sick from restaurant food, even though she specifically asked about ingredients. It seems that people didn't take her seriously. These days though, with food allergies being so common and potentially dangerous, I think the food industry does take them very seriously now.
bummer about being allergic to nuts & soy! That makes it more difficult to substitute for the milk. At least you've got the oat milk!

I'd suggest making everything from scratch, if possible. That way you don't have any surprises. My brother has a company that makes supplements and he said the USDA will let you put in ingredients and not list them if they are below a certain percentage for the weight! The exception now is probably peanuts.

Focus on what you can eat: turkey, beef, chicken, all fresh vegetables and fruits, eggs, potatoes, breads... at least you aren't allergic to wheat!

Cheers, from

I don't know about the majoirty of what you're allergic to, but if you're a rice eater, you can always still have fresh made pasta (which avoids the soy lecithin) Couscous, and bulgar wheat instead of rice. And hey! Oatmeal!

Sorry you're allergic to so much, but at least you know what you can eat now, so that's at least helpful.

Thanks everyone for your support and advice! Yeah, at least I can eat wheat, and other things. I'll get used to it, I hope!!

Wow, I didn't know that about the percentage weight ingredients, SwampWitch. That's kinda scary because my nut allergy is really bad. Last year I ate a slice with nuts in because the packet was mis-labeled and had a bread label, and my veins collapsed and I nearly had a heart-attack because they couldn't get a line in. o_O I'll definetely be making my own food from now on!!!
